The forthcoming V-Moda Crossfade M-100s will be available in three colours, and incorporate features suggested by users in a crowdsourcing phase of development…
V-Moda’s Crossfade LP2 are our preferred headphones here at Digital DJ Tips right now, so it was interesting to hear about this latest model in the Crossfade range, the M-100 – not least because the company claims their design has been “crowdsourced”, with user suggesting features online.
The Crossafe M-100s, available in three colours, have all the usual Crossfade military-standard design features, with replaceable Kevlar-reinforced cables and a choice of user-customisable faceplates. They fold up properly for easy storage and transport, too. But they also has a couple of unique features, which seem to be based around the addition of an extra lead socket.
This not only allows you to plug in two sources (effectively turning your headphones into a mini mixer!), but also to share music by connecting a single cable between two pairs (which they’re calling “SharePlay”), negating the need for a splitter adaptor. Is this going to make the M-100s a go-to headphone for hipster couples on planes, I wonder?
I’ll end this piece by quoting one of my favourite lines for a while in a press release, from V-Moda’s “chief visionary officer”, Val Kolton: “Speaker drivers must be carefully quality-controlled like grapes at fine vineyards…” Love it!
• The V-Moda Crossfade M-100 headphones will cost $300 and be available in time for Christmas 2012, or you can pre-order with benefits for US$310 from the V-Moda website.

I could see the shared cable working for tag-team DJ sets. No need to keep handing over the headphones.
[ link ]Unfoetunately, Monster beat them to the punch. The Beats by Dre Pro added the extra plug feature a few years ago. Their reasoning was intended for studio use, not “hipsters” sitting on a plane. LOL
[ link ]I can tell you have never try the v modas.
[ link ]Beats Pro in a studio? Hah, only in branding photos. They’re not worthy of studio use.
[ link ]I have the moda Cross Fade 2 and I love them. Has everythiign I need and a sleek design for street wear. They are built to last….I dropped them for the first time 2 weeks ago and no dents!….it may have done some damage to the concrete though lol
[ link ]Beats? For “studio use”? Yeaaah… riiight.

Would love to give the crossfade’s a go, but no store in my area carries them so far.
But those are probably the onlyalternative to my TMA-1. but then again it’s only gear lust ^^
Why wouldn’t sennheiser hd25′s be on you radar for alternatives?
[ link ]Much more similar and a great headphone.
good suggestion!
I tried out the HD25s and the TMA-1 and just preferred the latter. I think the HD25s are great though and their sound is a bit better IMO. Everything else I prefer the TMA-1, they’re especially much more comfy for my head
[ link ]Couple of features, which then come down to… another hole?
[ link ]Where are the rest of the features?
folding cups.
[ link ]Just fulfilling a role here, any article or review about headphones has to have at least 2comments about hd 25s. I don’t make the rules lol.
[ link ]Absolutely love my Crossfade LP2s. Great sound, incredible durability, low cost and just all around nice headphones. I am seriously considering upgrading to these though, especially if they come with better sound to boot.
[ link ]Well damn, I would have gotten these over my HDJ-2000′s any day. Dammit V-MODA you’re so slow with features that EVERY DJ headset should come standard with.
[ link ]If they they made a studio application model I could see how the dual inputs would be helpful for location audio. Most mixers can switch between the output and a return signal. This could be helpful if you want to monitor the recording on your back-up recorder
[ link ]Wheres the full review? Im on the verge of buying these and want to know if they are good enough to DJ with or what else would be better for < $300
[ link ]They haven’t provided us a review sample yet.
