djay LE
djay LE offers the Mac-only DJ software as a free version to give away bundled with DJ controllers, and which has surprisingly few limitations.

Algoriddim has jumped on the hardware-specific, free-version bandwagon by releasing djay LE, a bundled version of its Mac-only software designed to be supplied with specific DJ controllers, to give new users a chance to try it out.

Currently available for the Numark Mixdeck Quad and the Pioneer DDJ-WeGO, but no doubt coming soon for a DJ controller near you, the software is relatively full featured, with only recording and automix disabled. However, you do need to have the DJ controller the software was supplied with plugged in (so no mixing straight from the laptop).

More about djay

djay is a slick, very Apple-esque DJ program that while feeling very polished, also packs increasing power under the surface – its two-deck approach has a well integrated music library and has some pretty good effects nowadays as well as harmonic matching built in.

• The software is available for download now for Mixdeck Quad and DDJ-WeGO owners, from the Algoriddim website.

Good move by Algoriddim? Are you a Pioneer DDJ-WeGO owner or a Numark Mixdeck Quad owner, off to grab a copy for a play? Let us know how you get on with it, and share your thoughts in the comments!
