Mixcloud
Mixcloud just rolled out a new version of its mobile app that now allows you to queue and arrange mixes for listening on the go or at your work desk.

Mixcloud just released its newly updated mobile app for iOS and Android. Now at version 7.0, it lets you pick out and arrange a play queue consisting of mixes and podcasts uploaded to Mixcloud straight from your mobile device. You can also resume listening to your entire play queue from where you left off, whether it’s on your laptop, tablet, or phone because it syncs across all devices.

Curation seems to be 2015’s music streaming buzzword with the hype surrounding Apple Music’s Beats 1, which is an online station launched in tandem with Apple’s new streaming service that promises handpicked tunes by notable artists and presenters. Are we seeing a return to a decades-old listening format because we realised that there’s simply too much music out there right now and we need someone to tell us what’s available and, more importantly, what’s “good”? We’ll have to wait and see.

• Mixcloud 7.0 is a free download for both Android and iOS. Check out the Mixcloud website for more info.

Aside from uploading mixes, do you use Mixcloud to listen to them? With all the algorithm-driven recommendation engines online, will “curated by humans” be the next big thing? Let us know your thoughts below.
