A new version of beaTunes has just been released, bringing Amazon and Beatport integration.

A new version of beaTunes, the app for Mac or PC that helps you to improve, correct, update and generally manage all the information held on your computer about your music files, has just been released. The update features improvements to its tempo and key detection algorithms and while AIFF and WAV audio formats were partially supported before, the new release adds ID3 tagging support for both.

beaTunes 5 also comes with the ability to match songs with tracks from your local library with current top songs from Amazon or Beatport. For the latter, two-minute previews can be played straight from the app. Beatport’s top tracks can also be viewed in the charts panel. This will be a welcome addition for DJs and fans of electronic music.

Another cool feature for DJs who prefer not to use keylocking, but still want to mix harmonically, beaTunes 5 offers a special view option that shows keys the way they would be, if songs were played with a different tempo.

We’re longtime fans of beaTunes, and think it’s a great app for maintaining your music collection and creating DJ playlists. We look forward to giving the new version a full review soon.

• beaTunes 5 is available for US$34 directly from its website.
