Hi, I recently sold my turntables in hopes of buying a decent usb DJ controller that can scratch well. Price is not much of an issue. Just looking for something that will fill my void. I'm strictly a bedroom DJ that makes mixtapes, etc. Your help is appreciated. Thanks, DJ ScroScro
Numark NS7 or Numark V7 ...if you want the feel of vinyl and motorized platters on a controller (and price isn't an issue)
I like the Numark NS7 but it looks rather BIG. Any of the smaller controllers offer similar scratch capabilities to it?
Did you check out the V7? I am pretty sure you are able to use one V7 to control 2 decks in Serato... I'm not aware of any other controllers with motorized platters/vinyl. Phil has made an extensive guide comparing pretty much all controllers with price points/pros/cons of each. I would search for that on the site and start there.
Yeah...I was looking for something smaller. Are there no good/small to medium sized controllers that scratch well? Was leaning toward Vestax VCI-300 or Numark MixTrack Pro. Any suggestions?
Scratching on a controller is going to be a big change as it is a total different feel. As well you will probably want to invest in a Innofader as the basic Xfader on most controllers will not stand up to a beating. As well it also depends on what Software you are going to use. You need to ask yourself a. What software am i going to be using Serato, VDJ, Traktor b. how much space do i have to setup my equipment c. Budget
Stanton ScS4dj, most precise jog wheels in the bidness. Mixtrack is ok, but the CF is kinda(and by kinda , I mean really) bland. Vestax typhoon is small, with good cf, but i dont trust those jogs. Dj tech imix reload has built in cf curve, and a nice jog wheel. And last but not least, i like the disco dj as an easy way to get controlling, provided you haventraktor pro, of course
If you're looking for something smaller, I would definatly check out the vestax vci 300 II. It has huge jog wheels and is good for scratching. Further, I think the new vestax vci 400 is also very good at scratching, and has more features than the 300, which is why it's a bit more expensive though.
The absolute best controller for scratch is the DENON S3700. The sound and performance when scratching is outstanding compared to everything else on the market. I had IMO the best scratcher in sweden testing the S3700 and he said it was the first digital thing he has tested that sounded good. He bashed the Numark CDX because it sounded digital and dropped sound when scrathing fast. Otherwise that should have been better to scratch on because of the 12" platters. But CDX has issues that can not be solved with software......
