Hello, I have been reading this website for months now and finally decided to join up and start getting involved with the discussion. Firstly a bit about me, I have been DJ'in now in an Indie/Alternative Venue for 4 years in the North West, UK. But I also have a passion for electronic and house music amongst most genres. I am currently in the transition from a CD DJ to a Laptop/Controller DJ. I started off practising to DJ with CD's when I was DJ, playing Funky House in my bedroom. I then saved and got into vinyl, but quickly realised as a teenager with only enough money for clothes and drink money for the weekend I would have to give up buying expensive vinyl. I kept on with the CD's and then finally got a chance to DJ to the public. All be it at an 18th Birthday Party but I helped my friend DJ at the party. After this, me and my friend put on some local nights in Pub's playing a mix of Indie and some of the electronic music I was comfortable mixing at the time. We managed to work our way into a club which wanted an Indie night putting on. After a few months the night was highly successful and we landed the full weekend at the club. Now at 25 I have now been at the club for 4 years and whilst the recession is showing an effect I am still managing to DJ at 3 different venues playing a good range of music which I enjoy to listen to. I love my job, I can't believe we get paid for doing what I consider a Hobby! Looking forward to being involved with some of the discussion on this forum.
