hello, i'm a beginner, i am starting to dj in India, and i want to buy good headphones. I have selectedJBL Tempo On Ear Headphone and Skullcandy Lowrider SC S5LWCZ Over The Ear Headphone to buy. Im confused between these two, if any one of you can suggest me a good one comparitively close to the cost of both of these, and if i can use any one of these which will be good for me.

can i use any one from these for djing, JBL or SKULLCANDY??

You can use anything, however I do not think that any of those you listed are decent for DJing.
My favorite choices of headphones if you are on a budget:
    Zomo HD-1200

In my experience you will not find any decent headphones below USD 50 that can provide the clarity and volume needed to DJ in a live environment.

Get some good well build headphones right away you might not aford them you think, but buying some cheeper will only lead into buying an other cheep in a month or 2 then one more after that so in the long run you will be buying headphones quite often. I have gone through few headphones this year and the once I have now are starting to break all were cheep so my next purcase will be pro dj headphones. Cheep headphones are fine for listening to music you put them on and listen for some time. When you DJ you put them on and take them of 100+ times a set.

so true!! same happened to me. i had bought 60$ headphones and within 2-3 months of hardly using them every week, a piece broke and then some time later i noticed some clicking sound on higher volumes. i will be going for ath m50 or ath pro 700 mk2 soon!!!!!!!

If you really can't stretch your budget then entry level Sennheisers or even Sony's should do the trick. Not familiar with Zomo so I'm not sure how they would stack up against each other. I would stay away from Skullcandy. The build quality is rubbish.

i have researched a lot on the internet and have come through good reviews for sennheisers. so you can go for it.

I don't know if its still the case but Sennheiser's were the worlds most popular DJ headphones for years and years, particularly the various generations of HD 25's...but that above the budget for this one.

Simply put.......I've been djing for over 25 years........lately, I've been buying these cheap ass Numark headphones. I buy multiple sets cause they are so cheap and it's always good to have a back up set. sound quality is adequate and they only cost 15-20 bucks! you are a beginner dj and I use these week after week for weddings and private events with no problems whatsoever.

For starting out or doing events that aren't as loud as some club DJ booths, el cheapo's will more than suffice. Once you step up to large clubs you will need a decent set.

as terry replied earlier, you can use anything as long as its serving the purpose. with all the studies on the internet so far i have found that djing is not about getting expensive gadgets but its just the art of keeping the crowd on the floor.

let me give u a short story of mine. we got a gig to play in a club for the first time. we made few mistakes, we went a lil later and then we realized that there was a sound problem in the speakers. we were getting nervous as the club owner was fixing his mixer with his amps. there was some volume problem with his system. after the crowd waited for a while, the system was fixed. then you know what?? we were hearing the same sound from the speakers and headphones on our mixtrack pro with pc. we played several times in smaller events and nothing went wrong so we had no pc backup or controller backup. assuming everything will go well we followed the trail. now no matter what we did with vdj pro in config nothing worked.

so there was no use of headphones, we had to fake that the headphones are on but we disconnect them from the controller. it was our first time, i was completely scared when it happened. we had 75% songs cued. thanks to my partner and vdj effects that we really managed everything well. that means the whole night went without headphones at all. i knew the music thoroughly so i knew when to change to what and my partner was very smart to do it. everyone enjoyed the night and appreciated apart from the fact there was no music in the first hour. whenever i think of this i still get scared.

you know what was the problem, vdj pro had got corrupted (it was pirated version tho). when we tried the le installed on the same pc, everything worked flawlessly.

also recently i saw a dj who 'threw' his headphones in front of the audience and rocked the whole crowd without any. so i learnt that a dj should know his music in and out and also expect the worst circumstances and be prepared with all the backups.

but that experience + tips from the members here have made me more stronger to face this kind of situation.

    Lesson: Don't use pirated software.
