The Reloop Jockey 3 Remix is a new Traktor controller with its own take on effects mapping, standalone mixer, and comprehensive control across two track decks and two sample decks.
The Reloop Jockey 3 Remix is that rarest of things nowadays: A new DJ controller for Traktor made by someone other than Native Instruments itself.
In today’s review, we’ll look at the journey from Jockey 3 to Jockey 3 Remix, what this particular controller sets out to do differently to Native’s own controllers like the Kontrol S2 and Kontrol S4, and how well the Jockey 3 Remix ultimately succeeds as a Traktor controller.

The Reloop Jockey 3 Remix is physically the same as the Jockey 3, but has a whole new firmware and mapping layer to add some exciting ‘macro FX’ for the creative DJ.
In this video, I catch up with Christian from Reloop to find out about the thinking behind the new Reloop Jockey 3 Remix.
We discuss the “macro FX” idea (lots of effects mapped to one control), how the Reloop’s FX layer can put exciting new tools in the hands of the creative DJ, and how this controller offers an alternative to the Kontrol F1 route of creative DJing.

The Reloop Jockey 3 Remix; We think it’s potentially the best new Traktor controller to come along since Native’s own (very different) Kontrol F1. (Click to enlarge.)
Not everyone wants to take the Traktor 2.x/Kontrol F1 DJing path. It’s awesome and it’s pushing boundaries and all that, but it’s not the only way to go. And furthermore, a side effect of Native Instruments tying Traktor Pro 2′s Remix Decks into its own Kontrol F1 hardware has been to stifle creativity in the third-party Traktor controller field. When did you last see an interesting new Traktor controller?
So it’s good, then, that we now have the Reloop Jockey 3 Remix. Because while we’ve not had chance to see it or test it yet, from the press release and video, it looks like the best new Traktor controller for ages.
