The Pioneer XDJ-Aero gets a white paint job, but operationally is identical to its earlier release.

The Pioneer XDJ-Aero DJ controller has been launched – as is Pioneer’s way with its gear – in a white edition, just in time for the NAMM Show 2013.

Everything else remains identical about the unit, which is the first consumer DJ controller designed for use with the company’s rekordbox music library software.

The Pioneer XDJ-Aero isn’t the first all-in-one DJ controller that doesn’t need a laptop to work, but it is the first that can connect to its music sources wirelessly.

In today’s Pioneer XDJ-Aero review we look at this innovative DJ controller that you can perform on wirelessly using music stored on your iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone/tablet or laptop, and without being connected to computer DJ software.

The XDJ-Aero is the first all-in-one consumer controller by Pioneer that uses the company’s rekordbox software and workflow, and also the first that does so cable-free – although you can hard-connect devices if you wish, DJ from USB, and indeed you can also use it as a “normal” Midi controller with software such as Traktor or Virtual DJ.

BPM 2012: New Decksavers For This Year’s Gear

One of the latest batch of DJ gear covers from Decksaver, this one for the Pioneer XDJ-AERO.

Decksaver knows that for many DJs, dropping hundreds on a piece of gear and then not buying a cover for it is sacrilege. And they also know that having a smart acrylic cover for gear is hardwired in to many DJs’ DNA, probably thanks to the iconic Technics lids that have protected delicate turntable parts for decades.

So Decksaver has made a bit of a niche for itself selling these covers, which of course opens the company up to an often-repeated question from DJs: “When is a cover coming out for…” (insert new DJ controller here).
