I DJ in bars & clubs in Kobe and Osaka (Japan). I try my best not to repeat the same songs already played by other DJs and I don’t use more than one song of same artists in one set (exception duets). But I see all the djs here not only repeating songs as they please, some of em’ play 3 songs of same artist in a row. Is this a new trend all over dj world?

I have no problem playing the same artist a few times in my set. If I’m at a bar/club I’ll also play a track a second time again later on as there is always turnover

Yes, it does depend on the venue/type of gig. Personally I think there is so much music out there, you can easily go a a couple of hours without having to play a track twice, unless it is really the rave and everyone wants it/requests it, in which case I might make an exception.

As for multiple tracks by one artist, you can do it, but it would be a good plan to try to make a mashup of sorts of it. So not playing 4 track back to back, but turning those 4 tracks into one longer (say 6-8 minutes) track.

Just my three cents as usual.
