Want to make one of these out of all those old CDs from your previous life as an analogue CD?

So you’ve been burning them since you first bought CDJs, but now times have changed and you’re happily in the 21st century, doing all your spinning on modern digital DJ equipment. But what to do with the old CDs that you’d otherwise throw out? That’s what this series is all about, and this month we’ve got a great idea from modder Russell A Jones III, who has managed to turn hundreds of the blighters into a fantastic lamp.

Of course, you’re going to need some skills and we wouldn’t want you plugging just anything into the mains, so if you don’t know what you’re doing this maybe isn’t the project for you, but if not, find out how and see some more pictures…

Looks a bit complicated? Maybe you should stick to making CD bird scarers…

No point repeating Russell’s excellent instructions here, so if all those home-burned promos (and AOL CDs that you threw in a cupboard about 10 years ago and somehow never threw away) are pleading with you to turn them into a lamp, here’s the whole process, complete with pictures, over on his website.

Good luck, and if you come up with any weird and wonderful lamps that you’d like to share with us, do drop by and let us know, preferably with pictures.
