Which DJs and live acts have made you sit up and take notice this year? I’m suspecting it isn’t many of those in the DJ Magazine Top 100.
Whereas once upon a time that chart contained innovation and was a half-decent barometer of what was going on in the DJ world, now, in the words of Morrissey, it “says nothing to me about my life”. (He went on to say “hang the DJ”, but we won’t go that far.)
Charts are fun though. And if you’re interested in a cutting edge poll, the kind of top 100 chart where digital DJs and cool live acts with innovative sounds and an open-minded approach appear, where you’ll see practitioners of techno, house, dubstep, drum & bass, electro, trance, disco, indie and more playing nicely together, then may we recommend you take some interest in the Resident Advisor Top 100 Poll for 2010.
One glance at last year’s results will show you that we’re talking about a different type of chart here, and for want of a better word, it’s just more, well, underground than you-know-who’s.
