Users of Allen & Heath’s Xone:DB2 mixer can enjoy a whole new host of effects options by installing the new Xone:DB2 firmware upgrade, which was announced this week at the NAMM Show 2013.

Version 2 of the firmware offers five new effects variants – Eco-MasifQ, Dly-MasifQ, Infrabass, Saturator and Bitbash 2. It is now possible to chain the X and Y effects engines, allowing audio processing by any combination of two different effects.

It is also possible to use a mode called “cascade”, in which any channel routed to FX-X can be processed by both FX engines, while still allowing access to the single effect on FX-Y by routing the channel to Y, with the crossfader off. There’s also a Midi clock generator, and a “spatial crossover” function, allowing you to adjust the stereo width above and below a crossover point which you can vary.

The Xone:DB2 firmware upgrade immediately from the Allen & Heath website.

In addition to the video that opened this piece explaining the Infra Bass and Saturator effects, there are two more videos, shown below, explaining some of the other new features.
