“Not tonight son, you’re not on the list…” – we often curse doormen, but what do they really think of us?

We’ve been locked in the studio with our scratch tutor, Steve Canueto, making some scratching tutorial videos on the new Numark NS7 II this week (hard life, eh?), but when we came up for air, we found some great stuff out there on the web for you guys.

There’s an amazing animated timeline showing the evolution of dance music, an expose of what doormen really think of clubbers, plus a nice personal piece on the values of DJing with vinyl (must read). Also we thought we’d plug the Traktor Tips news show, now on its third episode and a great find for Traktor users. Let us know what you think…

  2. 10 Reasons The Doorman Hates You – Bouncers, door guys, heavies… whatever you call them, these are the dudes who may annoy you sometimes, but they keep clubs safe. So here are the 10 things that really irk them about you – at least according to LA Weekly Read more
  3. What Spinning Vinyl Has Taught Me – Thoughtful, personal and useful piece from Not Your Jukebox, a website that has been too ranty for me in the past, but has redeemed itself here. Anyone who’s never used vinyl should read this Read more
  4. Traktor News Show Mavericks and Traktor issues, VU Meters, SoundCloud updates, an F1 mapping review, archive playlists tip and more – if you use Traktor, check out the Traktor Tips news show! Read more

Yay, it’s the weekend! So that’s it from us at the Digital DJ Tips office, loads of cool stuff scheduled for the next 7 days so stay with us, and let us know your thoughts on the above in the comments below. Over and out…

What did you think of that timeline? Have you committed any of the crimes against doormen mentioned above? Are you an ex-vinyl DJ, and if so, what lessons did you carry with you to digital? Please share your thoughts below.
