Native Instruments just released a video showing a routine using Traktor’s Remix Decks and a whole pile of Remix Sets. Remix Sets are pre-prepared “packs” of sounds by top producers that you can load into the Remix Decks on Traktor and “play” using the Traktor Kontrol F1 (or a pair of ’em, as here).
Remix Sets are kind of to DJs what sound packs are to producers: Building blocks to let you get creative with loops, beats and sounds pre-prepared for your by professionals. You can buy the Remix Sets on Beatport, so this is a good way of finally getting to play with that Kontrol F1 you bought and haven’t really used yet (hands up,there’s no shame – it’s not the easiest thing in the world to get the hang of!) Alternatively, this may be just the revelation that tips you into buying one and trying to get to grips with personalising your own sound with a bit of “on the fly” remixing. (You don’t even need the F1; the Kontrol S4 has limited control too.)
Do you own an F1 that you’ve not got to grips with yet? Have you bought Remix Sets and found a way to incorporate them into your DJing? Does this video persuade you that maybe you should? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
