Reloop has outed the RMX-60 mixer and the RP-8000 Straight turntable, in time for NAMM 2015. The RMX-60 is a four-channel club-style mixer, and the RP-8000 Straight is a version of the Reloop RP-8000 Midi-enabled turntable, but with a straight tonearm instead of the more usual S-shaped variety. read on for those and an additional new product…

RMX-60 Digital Mixer

This appears to be a slightly less well specified take on the RMX-80 Digital mixer that came before it, with a scaled down FX section and the individual FX cycle length and “tap” beat buttons replace by a half/double pair. Like the RMX-80 it is Innofader compatible (indeed, Reloop has also announced an Innofader rebadge alongside this news, called the “RMX Innofader”, see below), and also like the RMX-80, there is no sign of an audio interface (despite “Digital” in its name) for plugging in your laptop for software audio.

RP-8000 Straight

This is the exact same model that we already know, as far as we can tell, but with as straight tonearm instead of the conventional S-shaped type. Straight tonearms are preferred by some scratch DJs, who feel they are more “stable in the grooves” (ie less likely to jump and skip), although some say this is at a tradeoff to increased vinyl wear, point being that if you’re a DJ who only uses timecode vinyl rather than real records, replacing your timecode every now and then is not really an issue.

Extra! Reloop RMX Innofader

Just as Reloop has rebadged cartridges in the past to offer alongside its decks, the company has now also done the same with the Innofader, a high-end fader preferred by some scratch DJs. The company is making available a “RMX Innofader”, which appears to be no different to the standard model also available save for a Reloop-coloured fader cap incuded and possible the exact leads needed for connection, though I’m not sure about the last bit. It can be retrofitted to the RMX-80 and RMX-60 models.

• We have no prices, detailed spec links or availability just yet, but there is a video demo by DJ Fong Fong of the mixer and decks in use together, plus a feature video of the RMX-60 if you’d like to check out what it’s got.
