Pioneer DJ just announced that you can get its Rekordbox DJ Plus pack through a US$9.90/month subscription. This lets you use Rekordbox on your laptop to DJ with compatible Pioneer DJ controllers. The Rekordbox DJ Plus Pack was only originally available as a US$129 purchase, and comes with a 30-day free trial.
This will appeal to those who want to try out Rekordbox DJ for longer than the one month period, presumably to continue figuring out if it’s for them, but also represents a trend in software generally towards subscription models, so presumably Pioneer thinks (like Virtual DJ does too) that it may have a wider appeal. If you’re set on using Rekordbox DJ as your main DJ software, you’re probably saving money in the long run by buying the full version straight out, depending on how many (and the cost of) future upgrades, of course.
