LANDR, the popular online instant track mastering site, has just rolled out a new distribution service that lets DJ/producers get their tracks onto online stores and streaming sites like Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes starting from US$1/month for up to 10 tracks. LANDR mastering subscribers get the distribution service at no added cost.

Your first two tracks are free and are live for three months, after which you choose the payment plan you want. Other music aggregators like TuneCore and CD Baby charge US$10/year for a single, and US$29 for albums. As with TuneCore and CD Baby, you get to keep 100% of the royalties. No details yet if your track gets pulled from streaming sites and stores if you choose not to pay the US$1/month fee after the three-month period.

Notably absent from the list of download stores is Beatport, which has a more rigorous track submission process, though there are a handful of aggregators that allow you to sell your track on the site (Ditto Music is one).

Offering distribution alongside mastering is an interesting development for LANDR, and one that allows it to position itself strongly in the music aggregator wars where TuneCore and CD Baby have been competing head to head. It comes out a lot cheaper than the two aforementioned services, especially if you factor in the cost of mastering (US$9), which you’re getting for free if you decide to have LANDR distribute your music.

If LANDR gets it right, it could quickly become the go-to “one stop shop” for DJ/producers who want to get tracks out of the studio and onto streaming services and stores without breaking the bank.
