There has been no word from Serato itself, but we’ve spotted and had confirmed the next version of Serato DJ here at NAMM 2018 – and it’s had a rebadge. What we were all expecting to be called Serato DJ 2.0 is in fact called Serato DJ Pro, as our exclusive pictures show.

The interface has a crisper, cleaner look and feel while remaining the Serato we all know.

It looks great on Retina (hurray, finally!) but the bigger news is that there’s an offline DJing mode too.

Behold: the offline mode in Serato DJ Pro means you can now DJ with the software without using a controller. It’s not got all the bells and whistles – but it’s a great leap forwards.

I can reveal though that the offline mode looks like a simplified version of the plugged-in version (think Rekordbox library song prep mode). This alone represents a big leap for Serato, which has of course always needed a controller plugged in for any kind of DJing. (Looks like working on those difficult transitions on the plane is about to get easier, superstar DJs!)

We spotted the software being demoed here at NAMM 2018 so can definitely confirm this 100%, but there has been no official announcement about it.

More news and no doubt an imminent official announcement when we get it, but meanwhile – you saw it first here on Digital DJ Tips.

• The corresponding new version of Serato DJ Intro – we can also exclusively reveal – will be called Serato DJ Lite. Check out our social media for some sneaky screenshots of that.

What do you think of the new Serato? Have you spotted any features from our photos we haven’t had time to pick up on outselves? Let us know in the comments…
