In today’s DJ Skill Session, a truly simple but devastatingly effective transition from way back in our archives… here I take Groove Armada’s big room dub-influenced house smash Superstylin’, and drop into Alice Russell’s reggae cover version of White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army.
There’s a ridiculous BPM change of 30 or so in this mix, made possible by having that dub/reggae feel in both tracks, using the instantly recognisable White Stripes bassline as a distracting loop, and spending about 90 seconds slowly but surely knocking the speed out of the mix.
Did you enjoy this mix? Anything you’d like us to have a go at for you? Let us know in the comments…
