Spotify today launched a new feature which lets independent artists upload unlimited tracks to the service directly – without having to use third-party paid-for services such as TuneCore and CD Baby.
While the feature is currently in invite-only beta mode, Spotify says that, in the future, it will “bring upload to even more artists, labels, and teams”.

Artists will be able upload via the Spotify For Artists platform, which has more than 200,000 verified acts already registered.
While DJ/producers will love today’s news, it’s likely to receive a less than rapturous reaction from third-party aggregators and from SoundCloud (who also charge for unlimited uploads) – plus of course from the major record companies.
How to upload your tracks for free
If you want to be all set to take advantage of this, your first step is to become a registered artist on Spotify, which you can do at artists.spotify.com.
