Ever wanted to make your own synth? Now you can – Korg just announced the NTS-1, a DIY synth kit that you can easily assemble by hand. The components either snap or screw onto place, so no soldering skills are necessary. It’s got an onboard arpeggiator, a customisable oscillator with multiple waveforms and filters, a touch-based one and a half octave keyboard, and built-in effects like delay and reverb. It’s even got Midi Sync, Midi In and Out ports for hooking up with other Midi gear like the Korg Volca series.

We’re big fans of fun portable synthesisers (Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators, Korg Volca Series) but a DIY kit like the Korg NTS-1 just has the maker in us all fired up. Definitely one for the DJ/producers who want to get a bit more hands-on with their instruments. Check out the promo video and photo gallery below.
