I caught up with Dan from Akai to get the lowdown on the new Akai Ableton controllers, here at Musikmesse 2014: the APC40 Mk2, the APC Key 25 & the APC Mini. Bottom line is that if you’re thinking of starting to make beats and music rather than just playing it, these should be on your list – they’re complete with a starter version of Ableton plus sounds to get you going, and ane cheap enough to not let gear be any obstacle for you to start dabbling in theat DJ/producer label you always wanted to claim for yourself! Furthermore, the APC40 Mk2 corrects many user niggles with the hugely popular original APC40, and is a big launch for Akai.

What do you think of these new devices? Fun for Ableton Live users, a good starting point? Is the APC40 Mk2 a big enough improvement over the original to warrant the wait? Let us know in the comments.
