We’re at the Media Preview Day here at NAMM 2016, where Denon DJ has just introduced its new “no laptop required” MCX8000 controller to a throng of camera and microphone-wielding journos. I managed to grab Ross from Denon DJ for a quick chat about how the new unit has been received and what features are exciting people the most about it.

Below is a world first public video of the MCX8000, then tomorrow when the show opens properly we’ll get you a more in-depth demo, particularly focusing on a function that not many people have picked up on about the unit but that we think may well be a gamechanger for any DJ wanting to bring a bit of the audio/visual “festival set” feel to club and mobile rigs, namely integration with lighting and pyrotechnics via a dedicated link at the rear of the unit.

We can’t promise fireworks tomorrow (even though NAMM is a stone’s throw from Disneyland, we are unfortunately indoors…) but we have been promised a lighting set-up with the MCX8000 controlling things, so watch out for that. Meanwhile, here’s that first look at the unit…
