Native Instruments just announced a new version of its Maschine groovebox software. The upcoming Maschine 2.7 update adds the ability to time stretch loops, letting sounds “snap” to the tempo of your Maschine project. This is useful for adding sounds from loop packs when creating entire productions within the Maschine software / hardware ecosystem, and for using Maschine to trigger loops and sounds while performing live or DJing.
A new Gate feature has also been added, which allows loops to only be heard when you’ve got a pad on the Maschine hardware pressed, which could give some interesting variations when performing live or when mapped within a production.
Native Instruments just released its Maschine MK3 hardware a few months ago, and while the hardware received spiffy (though minor) spec bumps, what ultimately makes Maschine tick is the software: What started out as a groovebox grew into a production environment complete with effects and advanced sequencing, and it really is the heart of the evolving Maschine experience.
