Hi there – for over a year now I’ve been visiting Digital DJs Tips regularly for the reviews and amazing courses. I thought it was time to start contributing to the forums… thanks for having me!
I have been DJing since elementary school using cassette tapes and even reel-to-reel to create mix tapes or to DJ dances. In the 90’s I got into spinning with vinyl to emulate the amazing DnB DJs I was experiencing in Toronto, but my main focus at this time was turntablism. I’m proud to say I even made the trip to San Fransisco to take part in Skratchcon 2000… still a one-of-kind event to my knowledge.
After years of working a day job and trying to get various live music projects off the ground I decided to become a professional DJ. For the past year I have been working with a company called Absolute DJs as an Event Coordinator and DJ. I have done over 50 events this year, including 13 weddings, and I am happy to say that this is now how I make my full time living!
In October I began producing a radio show for a new EDM station in my area called SKY107FM.com. Digesting Steve’s “Pro Mix-Tape Formula” has been integral to my success in creating a weekly 2-hour program. I’m up to show 5 now and am starting to feel like I am coming into my own as a radio DJ.
All this is to say that, over the past year I have turned myself into a pro-DJ from a longtime hobby-DJ. All along the way Digital DJ Tips has been my companion on the journey – from gear reviews that have lead me to make educated purchases, to the almost daily tips that show up in my mail box. Most importantly, I have made thorough use of the “Free DJ course,” “21st Century Wedding DJ,” “Pro Mix-Tape Formula,” and both of the digital scratch courses you have offered. I’m really looking forward to all the exciting new courses you’ve got planned for the future!
So HUGE thanks to Phil, Steve and everyone at Digital DJ Tips! With your help I have quite my day job and am well on my way to a long career as a digital DJ!
