MemberGood luck. Just remember, if you have any problems, disconnect the drive and ask for advice before trying anything else as that way you have more of a chance of saving your data.

Ooooh! Hark at Miss Posh with her lah-di-dah 128K Amstrad. Some of us had to make do with a 64K one! :p

The Company were not very Helpful last time I spoke to them (at Christmas); but that was because the Drive wouldn’t accept my Password; but as I had a New Laptop I didn’t realise the Caps Lock was on until I took it to a Computer Shop 😀June 28, 2011 at 11:31 pm #1485Lew

Hello Adam :);
There is a Computer Shop nearby if nothing I can do works; but of course they don’t Understand the Importance of Our Music;
I asked them at Christmas if I could just buy one of their External Drives and they Transfer the Data from Mine to the New One (which seemed – though Expensive – a Win Win for Everyone); but they weren’t very Reassuring that they could do this;
It is Very Odd that it worked on my Foster Mother’s laptop today – she has Vista; I have Win7 – but although I am playing a Track now from the External Drive (in Windows Media Player); the Orange Loading Bar at the top of the Screen for the External Drive is still Loading and Loading 🙁
If I can (More than Anything Else) get my Ableton Projects; the Radio Shows I have done; and my Remixes off of there tomorrow; I could live with having to build a New Music Collection again (as my Sony Vaio Destroyed itself in November with 6,000 Tracks on; and that was a ‘Crying Event’
But; I Hope i will have Much More Hopeful News for you tomorrow 🙂June 29, 2011 at 3:34 am #1534DJ Peixinho
MemberFor twice I had both of my computers with 80GB or even more (most piracy). Nowadays, I have a 666Mb of music from Beatport, around 150 Mb of promos and 2Gb of Soundcloud music. However, when there are gigs outside of my main genre I just bring my CD case which has around 140 cds with the most diversified kinds of music.
But, as Phil once posted, I’ am trying to be as minimalist as I can be with music by keeping my beatport collection under the 10 Gb mark.June 29, 2011 at 4:09 am #1000578mr_john
Memberi’ve got 44 gigs of music… Although I wouldn’t mix all of it. I’ve got a wide variety of stuff and I’d love to be able to have an itunes for EDM/Dj stuff, and another for all the other stuff that I rarely listen to anymore (rock, alt, etc.) I’m running low on space in my hd so I’m looking forward to this icloud thing just to give myself some breathing room. I’ve got an external hd, but idk I feel like that would be a pain to deal with.

Me too, I find it fascinating how music “ownership” is changing right now.

Agreed. The UK law changing to make the ProDub licence defunct is a big step in the right direction imo.

KeymasterI had a heated debate with a ProDub rep at BPM last year, he just wouldn’t entertain the idea that there was another way of looking at copyright and in particular the grossly opportunistic ProDub licence.

I will Definitely try the Different USB Port;
And this afternoon I tried the External Drive on my Foster Mother’s laptop and it worked Fine; so it is ‘Possible’ that this ‘Helped’;
I have doen a Scan on the Drive with Norton and StopZilla and nothing untoward was found;
Unfortunately I can’t afford Food right now; so a Replacement External is out of my Range 🙁It could be your laptop’s USB port not compatible with the harddrive’s USB.
