Is there something wrong with posting? I was in the process of trying to post a reply to a thread elsewhere, and it ate my (well thought out, researched) reply to the question about the Wellpoint controller. At first, I suspected maybe I’d been logged out, so typed the message again – this time, copying and pasting it to Notepad in case it ate it again… which it did. I think pasted it back in and tried to post it a third time, but THIS time, it triggered the duplicate post detector, even though my post hadn’t shown up yet.
This is my first attempt at posting a new thread, not sure if it’s going to let me post this or not.
Woah… in my last reply, I tried to link to the thread that was giving me trouble, and it ate the link, but posted the rest of my message. OK, so… It’s the post by Shaun over in DJ Gear about his Wellpoint controller.
You should probably create a new thread if you want to actually get an answer – the “new post” form is at the bottom of the sub-forum index. I would also recommend not posting it in this sub-forum, as this is for posts related to the forum itself, not questions about hardware or software. You should probably put your post in DJ Software, since Serato is the primary topic.
I guess it’s random glitches as we (moderators) hardly ever experience this, nor do many others.
We have seen some other weird glitches very occasionally. I obviously post a lot and, while annoying, the frequency is so low I usually don’t even bother reporting it. It is also usually not reproducible, which would make troubleshooting the issue very hard.
This is getting really annoying. There is obviously a problem with posting posts that refer to external content via URLs/hyperlinks. In most cases, a post containing an embedded URL doesn’t post at all. It doesn’t give an error message, it simply doesn’t post it to the board. If you try to repost it, you get an error message saying that the post already exists, which means that the original post with the links was submitted to the post database, but something is preventing it from being displayed. I suspect a faulty configuration in the security settings of the board itself, causing posts with certain link types to be blocked.
It’s been noticed by me as well. Unfortunately I have not been able to be fully replicable in the errors, making it very hard to put the web team in action. I will bring it to their attention again and see if – as a community – we can provide them with enough input to pinpoint the source of the problems and find a fix. Thanks again for reporting.
