Allan MurrayParticipant
Welcome to the site bro…
Allan MurrayParticipantI would go for the XDJ-RX as you get the best of both worlds, i used to own the CDJ 850’s along with the CDJ 800 MK2’s before it, and there nothing special… I wouldn’t even recommend the flagship model CDJ 2000 nexus 2 due to a lack of being able to mix video without a laptop…
Allan MurrayParticipantThat is awful bro, i feel for you, and yes you’re quite right to be annoyed…
It’s stuff like this that makes me a video only person who wants do to his sets in front of a video camera…Allan MurrayParticipantI currently have the DDJ RB which comes with the full version of rekordbox dj as standard, and this controller can also be used with virtual dj…

Allan MurrayParticipantI would advise you’re friend not to use studio monitors for a party as there’s a large risk of the speaker cone becoming damaged and they aren’t really designed to be used as a mini pa system…
Also they won’t provide much in the way of low end at high volume…
I have the pioneer s-dj50x and while they are a decent monitor, they lack in the low end department…

Allan MurrayParticipantI think i might discuss my issues with my doctor as i’ve been brushing this under the carpet for too long… Thankyou for the support folks, really appreciate…
Allan MurrayParticipantI know where you’re coming from bro…
In my area it’s not so much the crowds that are hostile, but some of the DJ’s…
While I would like to land a Club gig in my area, there’s too much arrogance within the club circuit…
Don’t get me wrong around 50 % of the DJ’s are sound, but the other 50% can be very arrogant.
There’s also one club manager who I’m not to keen on due to the unfriendly nature…
Talking of Mobile DJ’s which is where i want to me, I am finding myself listening to a lot more older music these days…
Friends joke that I’m all Pipe and Slippers…
But i agree with Phil on this one, I took a break in 2005, and came back in 2009…
Allan MurrayParticipantWill give that a go dude…
Allan MurrayParticipantTerry is correct on this, going from a controller + software set up to CDJ’s, even the flagship models is a considerable downgrade.
I left the CDJ scene over a year ago, as good as my old CDJ 850’s were, i wasn’t long trading them in for the XDJ RX which now also comes with rekordbox dj…
Allan MurrayParticipantIf you’re a complete beginner then i would take a look at the Pioneer DDJ RB, i have this controller for the odd mobile gig and it get’s the job done nicely, it also comes with rekordbox dj so no need to buy additional software…
Allan MurrayParticipantI agree with DJ vintage on this as the Now albums are popular here in the UK, another thing to look out for which is what I went and purchased a while back was an album set consisting of hits from the 1960’s until now.
I got this on ebay which is a reliable site when purchasing music in bulk, i got my collection for as little as £50, all original CD’s.
You can always add more later on if need be…
Allan MurrayParticipantThats what I was thinking.
The only decade missing in there is the 1950’s which will be added at a later date, might also add some big band stuff as well.
I’m still debating on adding maybe some clubland cd’s as well, do many people at mobile gigs request tunes that are played in the clubs or is it just general pop from the 1950’s till now…
Allan MurrayParticipantOut of the two I would lean more towards the DDJ-SB2, i currently own it’s brother the RB, and for the price it’s a great little controller.
I’ve also had numark gear in the past which was the CD mix 3 and had nothing but problems with it from the minute i got it out the box.
For reliablity i would definitly go the Pioneer route, my old CDJ 800 MK2’s were still like new when i gave them away 2 years back.
Allan MurrayParticipantI had the same from a few folk in my area over the years, still do this day, DJ’ing is frowned upon by a few people in my neck of the woods.
What i did was, seperate my DJ life from the people in my area, I basically told them what I wanted them to know.
Only my closest friends got to know about my DJ’ing and other personal stuff.
I still live by that rule to this day.
If i were you, i would ignore these people as they obviously want you to give up.
I would also when it comes to promotion, create a seperate facebook account, along with a mixcloud and soundcloud account and only add you’re closest friends, along with other DJ’s in you’re area.
I did this when i first started out back in the days of bebo.
Also create a website and only give you’re closest friends and dj’s in you’re area the web address to it.

Allan MurrayParticipantI would pick the SX2 over the RX just incase you want to use other software instead of Rekordbox DJ, both controllers are compatable with rekordbox DJ, but with the SX2 you can use the likes of Serato if you decide rekordbox isn’t for you.
