I wouldn’t mind an X1. I’ve got my nanoPAD that I bought for production pulling double duty as an FX controller, so I don’t need an X1 but I certainly wouldn’t turn the X1 down.

Thanks for the advice 🙂

So you run the edge of the record along your jeans and that rips a neat hole in it? Cool.

September 10, 2011 at 3:20 pm in reply to: Are certain controllers better suited for certain styles of DJing? #7221Benny MackneyMemberI’d say that it depends more on what you want to do and how you like to do it than the style of DJing or music. I wouldn’t quite feel comfortable without jog wheels, for example. With these sorts of decisions, I’d advise making a list (at least mentally) of what features are required and then looks at some options and see what ticks the most boxes.
Benny MackneyMemberI’d say it takes a long time to lose it. I’ve been so buried in homework and concentrating more on production recently, so I hadn’t DJ’d for 1-3 months until this weekend and most of it was still there, although I’d forgotten how to remember tracks as a DJ (remembering what goes with what and such other DJly things).
Benny MackneyMemberNope. Either edit in Audacity (not recommended for MP3s, what with compression lossiness) or just mix out by then.

Not so much an uzi, more a “stabby” feeling.
When I get criticised for my musical work, usually one of the following happens:
– They’re just a hater (i.e. a prick from school) or just don’t “get” the music (like people who can’t find the beat in dubstep). People who just have no idea are included in this category. Criticism ignored.
– They have legitimate musical advice. I usually show my half-done tracks to BB and Haunter because they can always tell me if the track is missing something or if a particular sound is too loud or something like that. This is MUCH appreciated.
– Well sh*t, I just stuffed that up, didn’t I? Thanks for reminding me, I’ll take note of whatever I just did and try to fix it/never do it again.Benny MackneyMemberJem, post: 7113 wrote: opening the shrinkwrap by quickly swiping the edge of the sleeve along my jeans.
… I’m not understanding how this works 0.o
Benny MackneyMember320 or bust for me. I usually don’t notice but if I listen I can spot some dullness in the highs sometimes when the bitrate goes any lower (192ish, 128 sound almost rubbish now).

When they find something they want to play they click a button. So the short version is that you’re only going to get requests for tunes that you’ve opted to make available TO be requested. Pretty slick, eh?
😮 mindblown. Didn’t even think of that. I… wow. I like this.

Silent party? That sounds… geekishly awesome.
I think this requests idea could do pretty well, it’s going to be flooded with shit requests though (like any request mechanism) and it’ll promote the “DJ is a breathing jukebox” idea.

Bahaha 🙂 Nicely said, Emma, made me laugh.
Kazes, I’d grab a hold of those artists you know and work with them to get all of you famous 😛 That’s sorta my plan at the moment. Make contacts, promote them, they promote me, everyone starts getting their name out a bit.

Never done it in public (mostly through lack of public playtime 🙁 ) but I definitely agree.
