Awesome, thanks for jumpin’ in, Todd!
deathyParticipantAs a Mixed in Key user, I personally do not find the energy level thing to be at all accurate or useful to me. I haven’t bothered to actually try to crack the algorithm, but it sure as heck doesn’t agree with my ear.
deathyParticipantLooks like it was because you copied-and-pasted from DJTT, and they introduced the elipses to the URL. Proper URL:
DeepTown @ Riddim, Unawatuna 16.1.2016 by Deeptown on Mixcloud
deathyParticipantThe URL for your Mixcloud link got chopped up and mangled beyond use.
deathyParticipantHopefully we can get it sorted… VDJ isn’t my strong suit, so also hopefully someone who is more familiar with it might chime in.
deathyParticipantHowdy, Colby, welcome!
deathyParticipantHrm… you should be able to output only to your controller from VDJ, I would think. I would not think you need a separate soundcard, in any case, the one in the MTP3 should be PLENTY sufficient.
Do you have something like Audacity (or some other audio editor) loaded onto your computer? Maybe load up one of your recorded sets and see what the waveform looks like – is it clipping or too low?
How does it sound in your headphones?
deathyParticipantThat thing is sexy.
deathyParticipantHowdy, Wompbat, welcome!
deathyParticipantAudionamix is certainly interesting, though… not useful to the needs of creating stems, but some neat ideas.
deathyParticipantI honestly would never consider taking out a loan for DJing, it’s just too turbulent in terms of income… there are times where I’m playin’ multiple times a week, then there are stretches where I haven’t played in over a month.
deathyParticipantThere is no such thing… it is not algorithmically impossible, but it is very very difficult. There is software that is extremely expensive (Melodyne) that, with a lot of work, can do a really terrible job of it – but you would be doing most of the work, not the software… and chances are, you wouldn’t be willing to play the results to a crowd.
Such software will eventually exist, but it’s going to take us a while to get there and chances are, when we do, it will be an expensive commercial product for the first long while (and will probably be produced by Celemony).
I have experimented with this a lot, and have some interesting angles I’m working, but at this point I know enough to know that it will be a while before anyone can actually pull this off in anything resembling an automated fashion.
deathyParticipantYeah, I would think that a club that is going to require you use the CDJs is going to be a rare thing, even if they still got theirs sitting in the booth.

deathyParticipantThey are in the UK, so it may be related to time zone, they are not a large enough company to have 24 hour customer service.
I am not a mod or anything, so I’m just guessing, but they are very responsive in my personal experience when I’ve had issues.
