DJ MarnikParticipant
Until Pioneer DJ do something about this I premix the playlist and play back the recording.
December 30, 2016 at 3:21 am in reply to: Pioneer DJM 900 nxs & 2x CDJ 2000 purchase advice #2485261DJ MarnikParticipantOn your question
“Is there a similar (4-channel) setup, that has the possibility to play standalone or with a laptop using rekordbox/traktor with the style of those pioneer gear, but around 1000?:In my opinion that is a good price for great gear.
While there is no wave form on the CDJ 2000’s they do have quantized loops.
@Terry, even though you insist it is happening if you did a poll you may find very few of us dj’s have come across a club without a Pioneer DJ setup. It may be old or it may be new gear but I have never seen another brands CD player in a console since the CDJ1000’s were released. In 2010 CDJ2000’s were installed in my club. Every dj rocks up with a USB drive, not always Rekordbox prepared and some still with CD’s.
The other world you speak of where consoles are empty and you BYO gear does not apply to the vast majority.
DJ MarnikParticipantYou only need perfect beat grids if you intend to use sync 😉
Aligning beat grids in Rekordbox is actually easy but takes a tremendous amount of time, for disco tracks in particular.
Search “Rekordbox beat grid” on YouTube and watch as many as you can.For my collection I make sure the grid is aligned at the downbeat. This helps sync effects to the track, like a 4 beat filter effect.
DJ MarnikParticipantYes, DJM 800 Master2 RCA-out to M-Audio AV42 RCA-in.
DJ MarnikParticipantRekordbox DJ does have this ability but you will need to use sync to benefit from lining up each beat grid.
With sync on Rekordbox shrinks/stretches the track to keep the beats in line, it is amazing to watch and is the main reason I purchased it. Warning, you need master tempo on to avoid hearing the song being manipulated. On your original question you “could” use audio editing software to either insert or remove time to evenly space out each beat but the result may not sound great.

DJ MarnikParticipantThe Pioneer XDJ R1 allows full remote control from an iPad. You can change songs and control volume (line faders).
DJ MarnikParticipantI have 3 copies of my music sorted like this.
CD Singles
CD Albums
CD Compilations
Vinyl 7″
Vinyl 12″
Vinyl Albums
Beatport
ITunesI use Rekordbox and for it I have a single folder called Rekordbox music master.
In this folder I copy a music file from a folder above. Yes, I am duplicating but I prefer to keep my personal collection separate to my DJ collection.
If there is no chance of the song being played it doesn’t get added to Rekordbox. (2115 songs atm)
I manage playlists in Rekordbox.
I use Discogs to make sure Year and Genre is correct. As the majority of my music is wav this took lots of work.Good luck.
DJ MarnikParticipantCurious, what type of djing do you do?

DJ MarnikParticipantI have the XDJ Aero and have used it to digitize cassette tapes.
AFAIK the XDJ-RX can record to USB like the Aero can.
Couldn’t you do the same to record your vinyl?- This reply was modified 7 years, 6 months ago by DJ Marnik.
DJ MarnikParticipantCD Architect. Was using it for years.
DJ MarnikParticipantThe SX2 is much more capable but isn’t standalone like the RX.
You would only choose the RX if you wanted standalone.- This reply was modified 7 years, 7 months ago by DJ Marnik.
DJ MarnikParticipantThe DJM 850 for me.
DJ MarnikParticipantGoogle disco movies. I recall the DJ in “Thank God It’s Friday” being cheesy and of course “Saturday Night Fever”. These two should give you a feel.
