    Hi Kieran and welcome
    Since I am new to this as well (just got a new controller last week) you will most likely get better help by others.
    But will try my best 🙂
    I started with focusing on getting to know my music as well as counting beats.( not entirely true, I started with getting to know my equipment first) at this point I started to mix the easy part with tunes that have the same beat or close to as well as learning to set loops. My next goal is to start taking classes here next month.

    I do not know how traitor works as use serato and I only go through my tunes to double check that the beat grids and the beats are correct.

    I guess that if there is any good advice in this, learn your music (listen to them many times) try to count beats as well as imaging parts that are good for mixing into or out of. As well as learning of to set loops to help you mixing into or out of.

    I like the sx but then again I have nothing to compare with. This is my first controller 🙂

    I agree totally with what DJ Vintage is saying. I was actually going to get the Beatmix 4 wich will be released in May.
    The only reason I got a DDJ SX is that someone had returned a SX back to the store (2 month old) and the store offered it to me at 1/2 price and full warranty

    I was trying to practice great restraint (promise) but could not resist temptation when the store called me with an opportunity to purchase a second hand (2 month old) DDJ SX for 1/2 price. The customer returned it to the store.

    So I am just abot to drive out to get it before the store closes.

    yes it will be shipped to Norway Tuomari, but Beatmix 4 has a release date in May

    I just looked at the reviews… I like it to but not awailable in Norway yet…could order it from US or maybe UK. Have to check out what the duty would be like.

    I really apprecite all the great advice on this site.

    I will also sign up for some of the online training courses

    The only item I have so far (purchased used) is a MacBook Pro
    15″ screen, 320 gb hd, 2,4GHz Intel Core i5, 4Gb 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM

    hope this is good enough…. hope to avoid having to buy a new one

    Hi Dtek, I am just starting out. I have a great love for music and alltough I wanted to start with this way back in time (mainly due to my DJ friends in Jamaica) I never thought I would actually start with this. recently I was asked to play at wedding and even as a DJ I performed badly the people enjoyed it and gave me a lot of positive feedback. There were around 150 at the wedding party.

    They had allready a decent PA set there and all I used was my Ipad and DJ player

    in reasearching on this site I am somewhat inclined (not sure at all) towards DDJ SX and Serato

    my plans is to mainly cater to small/medium functions and weddings to start with (give me an opportunity to perform and learn as I go along.

    lol I guess I have dreams but dont want them crushed… need to learn to walk before I run….
