I use Serato DJ, not Scratch, but assume they have a lot of similarities.

It would be useful to know exactly what steps you are taking and what hardware you are using.

If the tracks are running at the same BPM it should be a case of cueing off and then fine tuning the cued track to make sure the beats are completely in synch. If they sound like they are on the headphones, but when you cross fad they are way off – you may have some kind of lag occurring somewhere. I experienced this when I tried to run DJ Intro through Audacity to record on my PC due to poor soundcard.

Not sure that you should have that issue normally though.

Also, when you say that are not synching – do you mean they are out of time when you cross fade and when you nudge them into time they stay in time? Or something different?

I think they have different policies and I am sure someone here can explain, but either mixcloud or mixcrate make sure you reference the artist and track names and I think they may get something from that.

Soundcloud have already removed on of my mixes (and I have been there for just a few weeks) for what they said “may” have a copyright issue, which I don’t agree with. Having had some email dialogue with them they took it down due to a complaint from a record label about me using one of their tracks.

It seems Soundcloud take the safe option, which is understandable. I can’t see anyone getting in legal trouble without there stuff being taken down and warnings given first, so I wouldn’t worry too much unless you are claiming other people’s work as your own.

I actually raised a dispute claim against them taking it down, but doing that you have to agree to legal costs etc if they are incurred. I took the risk as I knew it would not come to that, but that is where the risk is likely to be.

May help if you add tracks and links to where to buy them in your descriptions.

Hi Charlie – can you send me, or post, your soundcloud link so I can listen to your music – two of my favourite genres 🙂

    Hi Olly,

I might be able to advise as I was in identical situation a few weeks back.

I also got a Mixtrack Pro II, which I love and was amazed at the price (at the time I didn’t know I would need to upgrade software to get what I need). I started playing with the Intro software and I think it is actually OK, but it really depends on what you are going to do. If you want to do serious club style mixing with tight sets and develop your talent at mixing seemlessly then I think it is essential to be able to record what you are doing for a number of reasons.

DJ Intro does not support recording, so your sets go forever unless you set up a clever way of doing it using something like audacity, but that can be a pain and depending on soundcards in computers and specs you can get lag and other issues.

So, if recording is important it is a must purchase IMHO. If you just want to DJ at weddings and more casual music events where you don’t need to finely tune your skills, then you may just be fine with Intro.

Thanks for the welcome both – and thanks Phil for taking the time to reply to my emails when I first started trying to join the forum, I did appreciate that and it certainly helped convince me this was the right forum to join, even if I had to wait.

Regarding putting the mix on mixcloud – I did set up an account on mixcloud and mixcrate as well as soundcloud, but they all feel like they are trying to do something slightly different to me. Soundcloud seems easier to get people who don’t know you to have a listen.

Anyway, I did put that mix on there, but I just re-mixed it for soundcloud anyway with the offending track removed, which is actually quite good as it was a bit different from the theme of the mix and I only put it on there as my partner and friends all liked it while we were on holiday in France this year…..they are not really that into the other stuff i play!!!!
The remixed version is called Bleet Sheep Crave Repeat – which was a little joke, I am sure some can guess which song it was I they didn’t want me to use. 🙂

Anyway – very happy to be here at last!
