The Rane SL4 allows two Serato Scratch DJs to transition seamlessly.

Reader The Leetenant writes: “What tips do you have to make a smooth transition between DJs at an event where all of the DJs use a virtual vinyl set up, but one guy might have Serato Scratch and the next guy uses Traktor Scratch or Torq? I know that one solution would be to have four turntables and two mixers, but what type of transition is recommended if there is only one mixer and two turntables available?”

Digital DJ Tips says:

Good question. Both Serato Scratch/Rane with the SL4 and Traktor Scratch Pro with its new audio interfaces have begun to make inroads into this issue for users of their own systems, but when you’re switching between DJs who use different systems, neither of these proprietary solutions is going to help you. One solution would be to mix into a CD on a spare channel which will then give the next DJ the chance to set up. Apart from that, I’m really not sure.

However, I have every confidence that we’ve got readers who have had to switch betwen different DVS systems at their gigs, so I’ll throw this one open to the floor.

Can you help Lee? How have you coped at gigs where different DJs have completely different DVS systems? We’d love to hear your advice in the comments.
