IIRC it’s legal provided it doesn’t adversely affect the sales of the original.
EDIT: Beaten

This rings some alarm bells as I play a couple of venues where I go straight to the PA – no mixer gains to tweak.
However the cynic in me points to Mr Golden’s close relationship with NI and the fact a Twitch could replace a Midi-fighter or two! A quick search doesn’t result in a flood of complaints either, so maybe it’s not that big an issue.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Twitch 2 comes along next year with sample deck functionality and optional AC power to beef up the output. Inevitably it’ll be announced the day after I buy one!!
He’s pretty harsh on the Twitch. Funny, because the guy who did the review for DJTT really liked it. I’m still toying with the S2 vs Twitch, though I don’t have a problem with the low sound output because I already have an amp.

I use windows as well, and haven’t had any issues. I do dual boot, with one OS for daily use and the other that has Traktor, and various other software for music manipulation. Makes it faster and much more stable.

Example:
Big breakdown, slowly kill the other tracks, buildup with efx and drop 2 other tracks (in loop) at the drop for added percussion. This adds such an extra punch!I like the idea of adding in 2 or more drops at the same time, going to have to try that. Looking at getting the new NI Damage Software for those extra 1 shots and loops to boost my performance a little bit.

The guy is a complete jackass. He happens to play house parties as his staple, and I took the opportunity to try and get some knowledge out of a more experienced DJ. I didn’t get the conversation I’d hoped. 🙁
I did learn in detail about his sexual escapades though… Apparently telling girls your a DJ actually works.

How many new DJ’s do you see picking up turntables? That combined with the fact that Tec 12’s are now out of production.

Gotta live riding them pitch faders.
October 19, 2011 at 3:04 am in reply to: How Do You 'Actually' Feel When Your Work Is Criticised ? #8695ArbiteMemberI like honest criticisim. Most of my friends are musicians or are musical in some way or another, most of them classically trained or jazz musicians. I love it when the lend an ear an ear to music I just bought or a mix I’ve just made, they’re always good at picking out transitions and what I can do to improve them, or what songs might mashup really well, or mix harmonically. In this way, they’re really good at saying “This is shit, and here’s why…”
I don’t like it when someone just tells me its complete crap, especially when most of the other people who come up to me say I did a good job. My very first gig, a guy who I never got along with but shared the same school with came up to me very, very drunk and said some pretty nasty things about my mixing. Makes you pretty angry, especially when that guy was dancing just as hard as everyone else…
ArbiteMemberI understand theming a gig, or playing a few similar genres to keep the flow going. But what I don’t understand is limiting yourself to just a few genres all the time to the complete disdain for everything else.
ArbiteMemberHave you tried just using the record feature in VDJ? I find its much easier.
Anyway, not a bad first mix. Mine sounded like crap. 😉

Do you prefer over ear or on ear?
ArbiteMemberDJ Max D., post: 8633 wrote: I understand why the MIDI Fighter wouldn’t satisfy that rule but X1 is made so both transport and mixer controls could be mapped with ease. IMHO it should go on the list, but that’s just my opinion.
I don’t think they could be used well as mixers. The lack of faders would be the biggest issue, preventing fine control over the music, which is a must in a mixer.
ArbiteMemberWhat software are you recording with?
