(i know most of you dont care but humor me)
IMHO Hip Hop had a good 10 years in the mainstream spotlight, don’t really miss it at all. Not coming from a hater perspective, i think there are a lot of people like myself who are simply just passionate about “EDM” in its various forms (even the pop variety) and are just glad its having its turn in the spotlight, especially after enduring a long time when it wasn’t welcome during the mainstream hip hop era.

unless you are getting feedback from vibration or 60 cycle hum I wouldn’t worry about it.
How are they working without for you so far?
Ivan PParticipantthere’s a shop based out of Toronto that services and sells decks and sometimes they have good deals posted on their website: http://www.technics1200s.com
Ivan PParticipantWhat soundcard and software version of SSL are you running?
Also on the SETUP screen what are your settings on the PLAYBACK and VINYL CONTROL tabs?
Ivan PParticipantDJ Hessler, post: 8061 wrote: Serato (As in Serato scratch live) would work with any MIDI cintroller.
But Serato Itch isn’t sold separatly it only works with the controllers
that is bundled with ITCH.
But if you have Ableton, why not use that??//DJ Hessler
for ScratchLive he would still need to buy a RANE soundcard (SL 1/2/3/4) in addition to his Hercules if he would want to use SSL with a controller which would blow his budget out of the water … personally I would only recommend that if he already had a SSL Rane soundcard
Ivan PParticipantwell now that Serato has its “Intro” software that supports the VCI-100mk2 it might be worth considering having access to the best of both worlds (Traktor and Serato)
Ivan PParticipantIn my single days my wind-down after a gig was to park my butt on the couch in front of the TV to watch a movie and just try to relax. Of course now with the wifey its a different story 😉
Ivan PParticipantwhat Stanton cartridges do you currently have now? I have had excellent performance using the Stanton 890 FS series which have high input pick-up designed to work with DVS setups. The newer stylus design for Stanton (V3 series) is backwards compatible with older model cartridges as well. This may be an option if you are looking to save a few bucks. Also if you are looking to swap out for new carts as well, the 890’s can come in balanced pairs already mounted on headshells and are shipped with 2 sets of stylii, one set for playback, one set for strictly recording/archiving your vinyl.
Ivan PParticipantthanks Emma, glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Ivan PParticipantD-Jam, post: 4392 wrote: With Scratch Live, you can play without the timecode. I even knew a guy who connected his DJM-800 to his laptop and totally used it as a midi control to run Scratch Live.
Sometimes I play gigs with very shady setups/booths so I made a controller mapping for my X1 to play on ScratchLive entirely in Internal mode in these situations. I can get very close to an exact beat-match without even starting the track using a rotary encoder and watching the BPM setting. Lets call it “Almost-Auto-Sync” lol
Ivan PParticipantI have no problem being a dick to patrons who’s request is for me NOT to play a certain genre of music. My experience with this usually happens with hip hop heads who have no tolerance for house music, especially if I had just finished playing a massive urban set and had barely played my first house/dance track and they’re crying for more hip hop already.

Ivan PParticipantI have no experience with this but it might be worth checking out:
Apparently this was the first DVS-style integration that came out as a VST plug-in for Ableton even before the Bridge.
Ivan PParticipantDjSpekz, post: 3033 wrote: The only question I have about this setup is if I can have deck A hooked up to channel 1 and have deck B hooked up to channel 2?
If you want this type of setup with an analog mixer you will need a soundcard that has seperate outputs for each deck. If you’re just using deck A and B, an Audio 4 or 6 would do (or equivalent compatible soundcard).
Check out example 3 at NI’s Audio 6 page: http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-audio-6/?page=1963 This show a basic block diagram of the kind of setup I believe you are asking about. Then just add the X1 and you’re good.
