wow im a new jack, and half of what you mention has happened to me.i worked for another dj, which whom tried to skip on not paying me. The whole texting while looking over you while you are on the decks lo has happendedl.Which is funny because I have friends who frequent the bar i use to play at and have them tell me,”so and so was playing this record”, which I knew the other Dj had no clue at the time I was playing. I have learned a lot from those experiences, and like you said, i will come across the others you have mentioned sooner or later. Question to you and others, how do you avoid a shady promoter?
DJ LosoMemberThanks! Appreciate it

The truth is DJing is a very easy solution for kids who can’t play the piano, or who can’t sing to do something with music. Most of the kids who buy the cheap controller are never going to take it to the next level, and maybe they don’t want to. DJing is a good way for kids to have a musical hobby, even if they’re never going to be playing clubs and the like. Plus, for someone like me, the cheap controller is an easy way for me to learn the basics and get a feel for DJing while I try to work up the money for a much nicer, more professional controller. Any way you look at it, it gives us poor DJ’s something to work with, and it gives kids a nice hobby that may turn into a career. Heck, I got a friend who bought one just to help him mix and add effects for his band. So all I got to say is, it’s a win win thing, the only downside I can see is companies investing less money into high end controllers.
I can see why companys are investing in cheaprer gear.Alix have you ever heard the saying ”slow(some) money is better than no money”? Why push expensive equipment in a bad econeomy, and not sell that equipment versus something inexpensive that would sell easily? I have purchased a unit that is not as expensive, compared to some of the other controllers out there. I figured if Im using the inexpensive unit for gigs for now, I can save my money and purchase what I really want.
DJ LosoMemberExperiment with your song selection, and take notes on to what song, genre, etc brings them onto the dance floor.

Sometimes people will come to you with requests. You can sometimes base requests of what type of crowd you have and what they want to hear; not always, but requests help.
