    DJ Vintage,
Sorry i forgot to add i already have PA system monitors, i have two JBL EON610 and used to borrow friends mics and mixer (used to play in a band). since the MTP2 has RCA out, should i buy a mixer and just use this then? i’m not into producing and will be using my garage to practice when i get back so i guess these speakers will do. I’m just not sure how to connect them.

I think i was looking to desktop monitors (was looking at KRK 6/8 inch w/o sub) just for in the house, where music won’t be too loud (got a 3 yr old).

    Terry_42,
i’ll look into your suggestions also, i’m still learning as i use pads just for loops.

Thanks for the info DJ Vintage. I sent an email and was told if i order all 3 (Mixed in Key, Mashup 1.5, and Platinum Notes) i could get both OS versions rather than paying for both. just thought i’d share this info.

    Thanks Terry.

The two programs i’m looking into is MixedInKey and Platinum Notes. I’d like to get both programs now but i don’t want to buy it twice (currently have a windows computer). Does anyone know if you could install on a backup laptop also or do you have to buy two licenses?

    What’s your software?
Serato Intro (use Numark Mixtrack Pro 2 in my room) and Serato DJ (when i do my sunday island night gig)

What made you choose your software?
Another DJ recommended it before he left

What type of gigs do you play with it?
I’m in the military and currently deployed. I’ve been Djing about a month now. so i pretty much play for other military members, nothing like a club or anything like that

What makes you favor it over the others?
I haven’t tried any others but in the future i will. like i said i’m new

I just started the free trial and tried recording as i wanted to listen how my beat mataching was. when i played back, i had no sound. i have a windows laptop (windows 8.1). i’ve also tried to record with Serato DJ on a pioneer DDJ-sx and same thing, no sound.

    any clue what’s going on?

Any tips for using loops or just the pads itself? i was trying to mess with them between songs but i just ended up using the top left pad to practice beat matching rather using the cue button.

got more feedback today. everyone liked the new vibe or the different sounding music, perfect for a sunday. said song selection was good as transition were pretty good (i did mess up quite a bit though). i also realize i need to broaden my music selection because i had lots of request that i didn’t have (did have other request other than Hawaiian/Reggae) like ska, hip hop, rap, r&b, country, rock. it was rough transitioning between them and going back to island music.

So last night went pretty well. got lots of good feedback but negative also, which is good. I really didn’t do nothing to special other than do my best at beatmatching and try to transition the best possible. Got a question on this also. I noticed when transitioning from a lower BPM to a higher (or vice versa), during the song i’d slowly increase or decrease so the next song don’t song too funny. i did this because it just didn’t sound right and usually it’s for request. But there were times where i’d find a song with an acapella begining and slowly fade out last song.

Couple of problems before i even started though. 1) i didn’t have the right cables to connect to monitors to mix track pro 2, but ended up using their controller (DDJ-SX) which i sort of figured out. the plus side, i downloaded Serato DJ and got a chance to see what the full program is like.

But thanks again for everyone tips and all the information on forum. i just need more practice as i do know i can’t Dj overnight.
