Very possible, but not a situation thats enjoyable. I did it when I first started, and when I couldn’t be bothered taking my old controller to a gig. But, I like my crossfader to much to do it these days. Also, I’m an effects junkie, so a knob for them is a must.
ArbiteMemberI don’t dislike the DJ’s who play that stuff, because they simply cater to the target market that visits their club, and money is money after all.
I do avoid those clubs though, I dislike knowing the setlist before I even walk in. Just a pity there isn’t much of a house/tech scene in the city I live in.

What do you make? Mixes and mashups.
What is your favorite genre: I like most, but certainly lean towards Tech/Electro House and Dubstep.
What is your set up: Lenovo T420, novation twitch, TP2, Itch 2.0
How often do you make a new mix, etc: Depends, but whenever I practice, and I record most of them.
How old are you: 19

These are the models I’m consdering after friend recoomendation, I’m just not sure to thier comfort.
Stanton DJ Pro 2000, Pioneer HDJ-1000, A&H Xone: 53, Technics RP-DJ1200
Not elevated as in Beats by Dre elevated. More a slight emphasis on the sub 100hz and above 5000hz ranges in the headphones. Noticeable enough so that it makes it easier to hear the beat when cuing a new song in the headphones, but not enough to cause any kind of distortion. In fact they’re very good listening headphones as well. They have the clarity that Shure is well known for in their monitoring headphones.
Personally, I would steer clear of the A&H and the Technics cans because they don’t have the removable cable that you will almost certainly need.
ArbiteMemberShure SRH750 or the 550’s. Elevated bass response, high isolation, coiled cable, and utterly indestructible.
As long as you don’t have massive ears they’re also really comfortable.
ArbiteMemberIf you’re using a DVS and traktor, have you thought of investing in an X1 and using effects for some controllerism/turntablism tricks?
ArbiteMemberHe’s a decent DJ, his stuff simply isn’t to my taste. I’d hardly say he’s worthy of the top 1 though, there are better DJ’s out there, mixing wise that is.
Anyway, I’m just keen to seen Van Buuren and Carl Cox in a few weeks.

TWIST in the situation. The theme of the party? Rave. Seriously? HUGE face palm
Did someone say Happy Hardcore, Hard dance and Hardstyle!? :p
And anything else hard. 😉

Perfectly, except it’s almost double your budget.
ArbiteMemberZoosh, post: 9843 wrote: I have been using a Traktor kontrol s4 for a while now and still love it quite like the look of the new Vestax Vci-400 though very nice
Neither of those suggestions even come close to the OP’s criteria. The s4 would be really awkward in most club booths, where space is limited and generally already taken up by 2 or more CDJ’s plus a mixer. Plus it’s really annoying to carry anyware. Also, its nearly a grand.
Something more along the lines of a vestax controller, they’re much smaller and you can just put some foam on top of a CDJ/turntable, and then wack your controller on top. The VCI 100 is probably the go. Unforunately, most hip hop DJ’s come under fire for using digital systems and controllers, so your kind of stuck there. Of course you could just fuck the system and grab two midifighters and use your existing mixer. Unfortunately theres not much around for ~400.
ArbiteMemberManipulation, I love cue point jugling, looping, and all the extra goodies. Being able to completely chop up a track, rearrange it, and then put it back together into something different on the fly is just so amazingly awesome. Every now and then when I’m playing I have one of those “Holy shit, this is awesome moments”.
ArbiteMemberAh yes, the slicer and the loop roll make for great live remixing/mashup possibilities. Now all I need are two twitches and a version of itch that will use 4 decks with them. 2 decks is just so limiting, and is my only gripe with the twitch so far.
