But that never really answered your question, eh? ‘what’s the best mixer’…

Have you looked at the following:

Have you looked at the MC-6000 by denon? Or better yet, the best bang for the buck the American Audio VMs-4. I’ve heard some pretty good reviews of that controller. I think he did one here at digitaldjtips.com…

ok, dig this. That’s good audio (I’m not the one for shooting speakers, because if you are making money and enjoying what you have, then you are good in my eyes). however, to attenuate better sound, you have no equalizer for that reverb or echo as you would need for karaoke (that’s where the problem is…) I use QSC (Kseries) and even though they have DSP built in, there is no echo or reverb, thus comes in my external mixer. So My advice, get an external mixer to get the rest of the options and sounds you need. Skip what virtual DJ can do with sound (echo and reverb) as it will sound a little artificial. You will probably get better sound if you use an external mixer, et. al..

Let me ask you this. Do you use in house speakers or do you bring your own sound setup?

I actually am an avid RMX user. I come from a Numark total control to BCD:3000 (so cool) to the RMX (this is when I really started to make money), to the Denon’s with a behringer DDM-4000 (Awesome mixer, just the cross fader kept getting shorted out, if I hadda known about the X1 infinium or innofader, I would not have sold it, but I wanted a USB interface to my music) to my Xone:DB4.

I dig the rmx mixer, you can litterally do ANYTHING with it. Just avoid certain things (IMO). Make sure you update your drivers and the firmware. The sound card is questionable, but certain rules I follow:

Remember, Hercules actually USED to make very decent sound cards back in the day for PC’s, so the soundcard should be somewhat decent, just gotta follow some rules:

    1) Use the quarter inch unbalanced output jacks vs. the RCA jacks. They are +4dBU if you are connecting to a PA system. That will help your sound quite a bit. I keep a pair of Quarter inch to RCA’s, along with some Quarter inch jacks in my ‘magic blue box’.

    2) Don’t use the mic on the soundcard. Get an external mixer for the effects. It’s just easier to deal with vs. using the combo of software/hardware for your microphone. For weddings in stuff I use a pretty simple setup, including my xenyx 1204FX by behringer. It’s easier for me to control mic’s that way. When I used to have an analog mixer, it just works….

    3) Update the firmware and your drivers. As one of my team members (because I don’t wanna call them my employee’s) says…That’s MUCHO IMPORTANTE, Captain Ahab….

    BTW
the Xone:DB4 is my new buddy (I call it the control center). A VERY nice controller. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I wish there was a hack to make it analog.

by chance…which Hercules mixer? I use combo of things…However, I NEVER run my sound from my mixer to my speakers…I typically run my sound through ANOTHER mixer then to my audio….

well…This debate is over. The macbook is no more…

I am going to replace my macbook pro with a newer pro. I have an iMac and love it. Yes, POWERFUL bit of machinery but is core 2 duo. I’m so interested in the i5 and i7 machines in the macbook pro line….

I agree with Ivyquake. I’ve created a couple of 10 minute playlists I can use to re-inspire myself. when I truly just LOSE it or or completely fall apart. They have yet to fail me, especially during marathon sets…

However, I do make it an intention to refine my playlist everyday….

    3) MC Lyte — Keep on, Keepin on
    4) Whodini – Friends
    5) Whodini – 5 minutes of funk

I completely agree, but if your crowd wants it, you GOTTA play it. I Absolutely LOVE 90’s hip-hop (Mc Lyte, Audio 2, KRS-1, Lords of the Underground) but if folks want the Boom bottom, you GOTTA play it…

DJ Loso, post: 4097 wrote: Thats whats up! I still play I think I love her, thats my song lol. Recently, on some nights, i get a lot of requests for Rick Ross from guys and girls.

    See what I’m saying:

Those Hard Songs ( Example, Take some Ballin (Jeezy and Lil Wayne), Loop that a couple of times, blend in some Grove street instrumental by dropping the bass out of the Ballin, cut the beat with ‘I got a whole lotta money…’ from the song let it play… Floor will get buck wild; Same blend style with bust that head with some Ace hood – Hustle hard remix…and if you keep hitting them, hit ’em with Some Kinfolk Thugs – Dump Truck’) That 70 or 140 BPM range. As long as it has plenty of Bottom, you keep the girls on the floor and the dudes are happy….

…then just Echo it out with some Mystikal – Here I go. (<– Please don't slip on this track! it's so hot it does not matter if it does not blend…). That is about 12 minutes of just DAMN….Now if you doin it.

cool thing about that Those HARD songs when your floor gets jumping: the proverbial mix is gone when you are hitting with those heaters…and the crowd is chanting with your music. As long as the crowd is moving….

I feel you there sir. When Gucci was REALLY hot, of course ‘I think I love her…’ was the peak of the party
