Ever, even with a 10+ year old email….. it’s not a hard thing to avoid? And I’m talking Apple here, not the minefield that is Androids Marketplace, I mean Apple aren’t saints, but its app vetting process has gotta keep SOME of the dodgier shit out.

I just find a lot of people are extremely internet paranoid. A brain and a bit of common sense will keep you safe. I got nothing to hide and if I did it wouldn’t be on the internet.

Gosh…as I’m not interested in one of these charmingly fascinating forum pi**ing contests, I’ll just have to declare you winner of this one! Yay you! ;>)

    Interesting take.

If that’s what you got from the post…that IS an interesting take. Song preferences is hardly personal info. Back to apps in general. Think about every profile you’ve filled out. (Thinking about it? Good.) Lot more than song preferences there, starting with a viable email address. Can you sing “Spam, spam, spam, spam….”

You guys are fast. Absolutely agree with those above who chose a search including keyword “lyrics.” But you know WHY I prefer it? Yes, because it works (except for instrumentals…AHA! House Music DJs…use an app or you’re hosed).

Here’s a nasty fact (especially for you compulsive app-heads out there). App-creation is largely driven by the desire to acquire marketing information about YOU! This is especially true for all the “FREE” ones. The more personal the info the better. Though most of the info. is harvested for the (relatively) benign purpose of marketing research, not all is. There ARE nefarious forces loose in the world.

As more and more info. on you gets “out there,” someone can put together a potentially detrimental (in effect, not character) profile. In today’s identity theft and privacy-eroding environment, I DON’T WANT TO GIVE ANY MORE INFORMATION ON MYSELF THAN ABSOLUTELY (F’in) NECESSARY!!

    Rant ended…as you were.
