Dillon MennieParticipant
i have been having more fun when i beat match manually
Dillon MennieParticipantwell when i started i used the sync button, then i gradually moved to doing it visually. When i decided to turn off all of seratos sync functions and was going strictly by ear i just picked some tunes that were around 128 bpm, with a very simple synth that didnt distract me from the beat. I also found stuff around 128 was more natural for me to count in (maybe my background as a drummer i was always counting in this range)
If you find some stuff in your collection that has a very strong kick and snare you should be well on your way to beat matchingIf you are playing lots of edm style tunes (i call edm the popular massive festival house) just mix the last couple bars of a drop with the build of the next looping the first track and slicing the beats down and then doing an epic drop into track 2.
and for question 3, I would think you will have more fun actually djing live at the parties. Sometimes i record my radio show when my friends cant come listen live, then maybe the next day we will have a “listening party” if you will and have a few beers and listen to the mix and have fun, but i would always rather play live, even if its only for a couple friends.
Dillon MennieParticipantthis was such a good investment! thanks for the tips etc. Im really enjoying the flip feature and cant wait to use it in my sets. finally bought some nice monitors to and wow its awesome. i almost feel like its to much for a bedroom dj.
Dillon MennieParticipantMy radio show is a 2 hour set and i usually play between 65-80 tracks. It depends what type of set i am playing though. if its a more liquid dubstep/dnb its less tracks, but if i am playing a heavy banger type set i end up playing more tracks.

yea i enjoy when you get the right flow going but then slow it down ,everyones smiling while the leave the floor. You know they’re heading off for a drink probably a quick recap of what they heard but then they’re coming right backDillon MennieParticipantthe old rub n tug fix. Nothing like an old fashion to get you back in the groove
Dillon MennieParticipantI have just finished reorganzing my entire library. I decided that i needed to make my own genre names that are derived from the original genre. It may not make sense to anyone else but i works well for me when i need to find a similar sounding beat but basslines are different etc. Dnb for example i have what i call Classic dnb, then i have the DnB that has dubstep sound synths i just simply call DUB drum & bass Not sure if this has anything to do with your question though…
Dillon MennieParticipantsmooth nice work.
Dillon MennieParticipantwell thanks for all the advice guys, I just chilled out and didnt even think about djing till about 2 hours before my radio show on friday and damn, it was the most fun set ive played 🙂
