Yeah i know, its just that yesterday i created the topic when i was really sleepy, and sorry about that, but thanks guys and i’ll definetly going to check that forum see if someone can help me, close is good, but i think there must be a way to make my song sound like i want to.

Me too, in fact that song i just recently created it, and well still trying to make that instrument, i mean, the first one, before the synth.

But anyway guys i agree, experimenting is gonna be very helpful.

First of all welcome Kevin its nice to meet you and you too dromer. Well i just wanted to tell you guys that i’ve been mixing over 3 years now, and i wont say im good because i cant say that, you are the ones who are going to decide if i am good or not, but i’ll give you my mixcloud and soundcloud account so you can check my mixes.

Actually i mix with a ddj wego and a compaq cq10, and i just wanted to tell you that the pad’s in the ddj sx are really much the same as the samplers in the ddj wego because at the end, all controllers have almost the same functions and utilities, thats just marketing, but anyway i also leave my mail so i can help you both.

First of all thanks d-jam for your advices, and well yes indeed, i was researching a little bit about the os and it isnt as safe as it seems, and yes it would be my first time with an apple computer, but my friend’s brother told me that any doubt i had i could ask him, so that’s an advantage, and yeah i fear it might be stolen, because i wouldnt use it only for djing, also for university, and that means take public transport, but anyway i think i’ll be fine, just like i said, buy something to cover the apple and make it look like something else.

Ok thanks to all of you for your advices. Yesterday i spoke with a friend of my brothes who has a mac, and he tells me that indeed, is the best choice, so yeah, i think im going to buy a mac, but the only thing that worries me is the insecurity but i think i will be fine if i buy a case or anything to cover the apple

what i meant with the grapics card is for example to run at the same time my mixing software and a vj software, and well some graphics cards arent powerful enough to run both and also i think the mac has a better screen than the inspiron, and well i’ve heard its more difficult for a mac to crash than a pc, but i think its all about how many programs you have running in background which also takes a point for a mac, because you dont need an antivirus with the mac, and with the pc, you must have an antivirus unless you want to be exposed an get a virus, so i think im going for the mac.
I dont doubt that a good powerful pc do the job, because even that my compaq has done the job, if not perfectly, at least i can mix.

Well money isnt an issue, i can save and work and in more or less a year i can buy the mac, the same goes for the Inspiron, so well, is it true that laptops starts to lose quality as time goes by?

hello, first welcome to the forum and well i may introduce you to the world of dj

First of all you need to count the beats of the songs, from 1 to 8 and then repeat, or like phil do, which would be 1,2,3,4 2,2,3,4 3,2,3,4 4,2,3,4 5,2,3,4 6,2,3,4 7,2,3,4 8,2,3,4 and then all again, well my point is from the first beat of the song, if you start counting, the melody itself will start in the 1, knowing this you can try a beatmacth thats when the beats of the 2 songs you want to mix are synchronized, to do this you have to move the beat untill it sound the same with the other song, once you do this, you have to turn de bass of with the eq (equilizer) then you can bring up the tune with the volume controllers, the ones in the middle, and it shouldnt notice the diference well not much, next you have to put a 8 beat loop, search for the loop and move it to 8 beats, i like to do this before the efect, so i have more control in the song.

By this point, the song you started playing should be ending with the boring part, well this part is for mixing, simply take the loop out and when the efect start just start decreasing the volume slowly, till the song is out and thats it,
and finally, repeat all over again

    1) Would you like to see such a competition? If yes, how often (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, yearly, other)?

Well yes, why not, also it would help, because when there´s a competition people starts improving their dj technique so it sounds better, and it push us to improve because we want to win. I would say one in 6 months would be good

    2) Would you participate if we had such competition? If yes, would you participate occassionally or every time?

Personally i would participate every time, so i keep learning and improving and trying other techniques

    3) Do you think there should be a senior/junior DJ competition or just one big one?

I think it should be a part for rookies, intermediate and pros. If not by age or genre and last by controller or cdj or vinyl

    4) What criteria do you think a mix should be judged on?

Personaly when i record my mixes, i judge it by 3 principal criterios, the first one is obviously that sound good, the beatmatch be right, the technique is good. And the second one is the congruency of the mix, i mean, for example, that a song is playing and someone is singing and suddenly it changes to other song etc. And last but not least is if it will make people dance, when i finish a mix, and i hear it i ask myself, Does this mix make the people dance?, so i say that are the most important criteria.

    5) What kind of reward do you think is suitable for the winner?

Well for prizes i say a pair of headphones, but it would be a lot of trouble, because for example im in mexico, so the cost of shipping would be a trouble, but that would be nice. Or maybe giving the space to make reviews in digital dj tips, that would be nice,
