Terry…sounds like the DJ version of the Windows “Blue Screen of Death”.
I did send an email to Serato Tech support but hasn’t helped much. I think they thought I was having trouble setting cue points; his solution was to load the track using the PFL-A and FL-B buttons? I told him I’d never had to do that before to mix in the headphones. I always use the mouse to drag and drop. …Ugh.
I think I mentioned VDJ out of frustration….I think the idea is to get a controller from a stable company.
I’m looking at Numark or Pioneer on eBay now. I’m pretty familiar with Numark, but if you were on a budget, what Pioneer would you recommend? Thanks for your help!Krista SummittParticipantI tried to reinstall the last firmware update, however I got an error saying something like “ECK not found”.
I looked at my Mixer setup in Serato. The ‘Master’ side has no volume and I can’t turn it up. The
I found a video on YouTube about this that said to try turning off the “Let this device take exclusive control’ options. I did that and then the VCI-300 stopped working.
I’ve installed ASIO but unable to figure out how to map it to the VCI-300.
I’m getting concerned that since Vestax went belly-up, I need to look into a Numark/Virtual DJ setup.
Thoughts?

Krista SummittParticipantThat’ll work! Thanks Terry42.
Krista SummittParticipantThanks guys.
Krista SummittParticipantVinny, thanks so much for the reply. I think the power and screensaver settings I had are what is causing the problem.
Thank you again!VinnyBlanc, post: 17272, member: 737 wrote: It could be USB “drop out” where you momentarily lose connection between the controller and the PC.
I took this from the Serato forums with respect to MAC, but should give you a little more insight in to things to check the PC equivalents of.

Am I getting USB dropouts? If you’re getting audio glitches, clicks or dropouts, then there is a high chance you may be experiencing a USB dropout.
A USB dropout may be shown by the USB dropout indicator lighting in Scratch Live or ITCH, however this may not always happen.
What is a USB dropout?
Scratch Live and ITCH create what’s known as an isochronous stream of audio data over the USB bus. That is, it is ‘fed’ at precise intervals from our USB buffer. If for some reason what is in the buffer can not be fed onto the bus, the USB dropout indicator will light, and more often than not, you will hear an audible click or glitch in the audio. This is a USB dropout
Troubleshooting a USB dropout:
There are only a few things that can cause dropouts on a Mac. Here is a quick checklist to run through that helps cure most Mac USB dropouts:
1. Make sure your Airport is off.
2. Make sure your Bluetooth is off.
3. Make sure your Screen Saver is set to ‘never’ come on.
Go to System Preferences > Desktop & Screensaver4. Uncheck ‘put hard disk to sleep when possible’.
Go to System Preferences > Energy Saver5. Set your computer and display sleep settings to never.
Go to System Preferences > Energy SaverKrista SummittParticipant@D-Jam: Thanks for the reply. I have all 3, but I have a 3 yr old windows based laptop that doesn’t have a built-in soundcard. I do have a Numark iDJ3 but it doesn’t have RCA line-ins. Hey, it does have a phono plug mic input though….wonder if there’s a way to use that?
Anyone know?
