About the Vegas scene, Mixmag has an article in their site named as ‘What happens in Vegas…’.
Here is the link: http://www.mixmag.net/words/features/vegasDJ PeixinhoMemberI’ve been working with Kontrol X1 for a while and I can completely say that I don’t need jogwheels to play. in fact I didn’t mapped my Hercules jogwheels in Traktor as I don’t use them anymore, but I can’t forget that the X1 has a better integration with Traktor than most controllers do…

DJ PeixinhoMemberFor 1 year now I’ve been using the X1 alongside with a Hercules DJ Console Mk2 as mixer and soundcard. But due to fact that most of the times the last is just a big annoy, I will get a Traktor Audio 2 to ease on the setting up at the venue and to work more with the venue’s mixers.
The X1 complete changed my way of djing, making it not only faster and easier to mix but also to enrich a set with effects and beatjuggling. The reason why I love it is that it simply has it all with absolute no need of a jogwheel and you can carry it without feeling afraid of anything like impacts might do as it has one excellent body construction at the right size. The only handicap I find in the X1 is the pitch bend, where is quite slow for big moves in that.DJ PeixinhoMemberTalking about the entering as a minor in the ‘Pro-circuit’, is quite dificult. You either are a out of this world producer or you just amaze every soul who hears your set.
However, if you talking about ‘amateur/newbies circuit’, is a different story. Normally, a friend of yours might host a house party or even a school party and get you a gig (mostly likely to not be paid). Though you can always go in a quest to each venue and say you are a dj looking for a spot/gig willing to give a try-out in the venue.
Above all, be honest and look out for those bar owners or so which might take advantage of your age or might consider you either too young or too fresh for it. If this happens just leave it, other venues will certainly have open doors for you.DJ PeixinhoMemberAround 30 € with each purchase in BeatPort, which is either monthly or bimonthly. I try to keep it simple and minimalistic as well as try to keep within a low budget.

When I play live I usually mix off he last guy’s track. I never really do “openings”.
When I make a mix, I usually start off with a track that doesn’t have a long intro and kicks off into some nice energy.
Do you have any examples of this “opening” you speak of?
D-Jam, I think the situation that TheShard was referring to is like the one seen in some festivals and special club nights where you have a pause between acts or some presentation by the venue which obligates to do an ‘opening’
DJ PeixinhoMemberCompletely forgot that topic, so many forums I visit that even noticed it.
DJ PeixinhoMemberTop40’s music with an uprising intro (like Shakira’s Waka Waka), a mash-up like Chuckie’s Show Me Fucking Love When The World Is Mine (Chuckie 2008 Party Dub) or an famous melody/acappella (Swedish House Mafia Live at Creamfields 2010 Radio One Essential Mix) on simple beat will please the crowd for sure.
DJ PeixinhoMemberOn a long sets is always advised to jump a bit around genres, but as Phil said a demo should be be specifically made for the venue you are wanting to work in. However you could diversify the genres played without shifting the main genre with remixes of the musics you think which fit in the venue style.
DJ PeixinhoMemberI own and play with a cheese ones of an fashion headphones brand, Urbanz Block in white, but for a while I played with a pair of Skullcandy Lowrider in White/Metallic Purple and a cheapy pair of Phillips SHP1900/10.
I would reccomend you the AKG K518, they are great for its pressure and have a great collection of colours to choose from.

I also prefer to have my pc off set but sometimes, a mixer or a controller might be in the angle and so it justifies the centerstage. all of them, apart from the engraving can be added but I would rather have all at once
DJ PeixinhoMemberPretty nice card Distraction. I’m also thinking of putting an QR code in the back of my card.

Wirekeep leds
Subtray
Centerstage
Colored knobs
Tote Bag
