I use the terminal mix 4 with traktor pro 2, not 2.5 with remix decks as there are too many bugs, i’m waiting on 2.6 update release.
To answer your question, yes the TM4 works very well……i upgraded from a mixtrack and now i just love my TM4.
but one thing about the TM4 is it is not a stand alone mixer, that is the only negative going for it.

Well alot of mobile dj’s cannot beatmatch if their life depended on it, so just running a playlist and walking away suits them as it leaves time to chat on phone and other things, now i can accept this kind of dj’ing if it’s top 40, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s music being played, but when they play EDM music and do not make an attempt to beatmatch then i really do question whether they are a proper dj who can beatmatch and phrasematch. I started off dj’ing as a hobby playing trance, happy hardcore and other EDM genres and learned to beatmatch and phrasematch, then i started doing mobile gigs and when i do my mobile gigs i never move from my laptop and controller as i use traktor and always have to load the next track…..i do my best to mix or blend 60’s, 70’s and any other non EDM music, but when i do play some EDM i sure as hell show off my mixing skills to show my audience that i am a proper dj who can mix tracks and not just do easy things like blending and cutting or even worse using an automated playlist………mobile dj’s who just play a playlist should in my opinion not be paid as much as us dj’s who can mix properly and put on a good show for their customers.
I really don’t care if a dj has spent thousands of pounds on an awesome sound system and light show, if he or she can’t beatmatch and phrasematch then in my eyes they are not a pro dj….letting a laptop play through a playlist is not dj’ing it’s exactly what it is…..PLAYING music from an automated PLAYLIST.

It could just be a simple case of who makes the motherboard of the laptop to whether a controller will work on the USB 3.0 ports or not……maybe Asus boards work and intel and MSI have the problems, or vice versa, so it would be good to research which make and model of laptops work ok and which do not.

the USB 3.0 compatibility issues with controllers can be sorted by buying a powered USB 2.0 hub and plug the hub into the usb 3.0 on laptop then plug controller into the hub…..also i’ve seen posts on here by terry the moderator who has the reloop terminal mix 4 and he has no problems using that controller connected to usb 3.0

Yes i agree an anonymous battle would be the best, that way as terry said it will be judged on skill and not popularity. After all it’s a DJ comp not a popularity contest, but then again when mixes are hosted what is to stop “A” dj going through the mixes and finding his and telling friends mix number ?? is my mix please vote for that mix.

I am a member of another dj forum….1 guy who i consider as being pro when it comes to amps/speakers and general PA systems posted on the forum that he owned mackie 15″ thumps and sold them because they had pathetic SPL output, something like 115db max and he always recommended the RCF ART 312a’s which he said were twice as loud as the thumps.

Cheap D.I boxes are crap and can sometimes add sound or degrade the original signal…..I run my Reloop terminal mix 4 from the RCA outputs into my speakers using RCA to XLR cables and have not noticed any degrading in the sound quality and that is even with 3 metres of RCA cable running form TM4 then connected to RCA to XLR cable then into speakers.

From what i have heard the mackie 15″ thumps have pathetic SPL output which means they don’t get very loud before limiting……what is your budget…??

depends what connections your controller has whether unbalanced RCA or balanced XLR or it might have both.
IF it’s RCA you just need 2 RCA to XLR cables, on the sub there will be left and right balanced XLR inputs which your controller connects to…then there will be left and right XLR outputs on sub which connect to your speakers. I’m surmising that you have active speakers and sub
So it goes like this…..2 cables from controller going into sub then 2 cables going from sub to your speakers.
IF you are using AMP and passive speakers then controller left and right outputs connect to amp inputs then from amp to sub then sub to speakers only usually passive subs and speakers use TR or TRS connections.
As i’ve only used Active systems maybe someone with experience in passive systems can help you more if you are trying to connect your controller to a passive system.

on the back of the sub there are two balanced left and right XLR inputs which you connect your left and right output from mixer or soundcard….then there is 2 balanced left and right XLR outputs which connect to your left and right SRM450
here is a link to a review on youtube which explains how to connect speakers

to be honest buying 2 cheap subs that cost £400 each would be a total waste of your money, buy 1 decent sub for around £800 and if you want to add another save another £800 or so, you can get the RCF 705AS sub for £849 from here: http://www.decks.co.uk/products/speakers/rcf/SUB_705AS
That sub will more than likely sound better and outlast 2 cheaper crap subs.
All the other recommended subs like JBL and QSC their subs will cost you over £1000.
you could also get the Samson Auro D1800 Sub for £599, but i’ve not heard anything good or bad about them. http://www.decks.co.uk/products/speakers/samson/Auro_D1800
If i was you and you do not want to go over £800-£900 then i’d choose the RCF sub 705AS
