The reason i would pick the reloop TM4 over the jockey 3 is that the TM4 is a newer controller with better jogwheels, better and longer pitch faders….in traktor when you set pitch resolution to 8% or 6% the TM4 pitch faders adjust the bpm in 0.01 increments which i don’t think the jockey 3 can do as it has shorter pitch faders. Also the TM4 is 4 channel whereas the jockey 3 is only 2 channel.
When i got my TM4 all i had to do was install asio drivers then update the firmware (which was quite simple if you follow instructions correctly), then download mapping from reloop site, you have a choice of 4 deck mapping or 2 decks with 2 sample decks, i chose the latter then import it to traktor pro 2 and i was good to go.
If you do decide to go with the TM4 and have any questions or problems concerning updating firmware or importing mappings in traktor just give me a shout on here and i’ll gladly help as i check this forum every night.

If you do not need the controller to function as a stand alone mixer i would rather have the reloop terminal mix 4 than the jockey 3 you can get the TM4 for £425, link below….i own the TM4 and it is a very good controller.

It was many years ago, i’m looking at the box right now and it says steinberg creative tools and also a link to http://www.steinberg.net, it also says on the box “licensed by native instruments”. So to me that points towards the very first version of traktor actually being released as a product of steinberg with a native instruments license, also it states fraunhofer mp3 codec which was made by steinberg and gives the address as steinberg media technologies AG 2001 all rights reserved made in germany. So the first version was released in 2001, i remember i bought it in 2002 from PC world

    UPDATE:
I’m reading the manual and on first page it says:
    Operation manual by Friedmann Becker
The information in this document is subject to change without notice and does not represent a commitment on the part of Steinberg Media Technologies AG. When i used the very first version of traktor ( i still have it in original box under my PC desk, it was called traktor dj mixer) there was no controller integration at all so i was just using keyboard and mouse, it wasn’t as advanced as what traktor is now, but you could use 2 soundcards with it…one for master and one for cue, monitor, also, and this shows how long ago it was native instruments were in partnership with steinberg the makers of cubase as it also says Steinberg on the box as well as Native instruments. It was the software that got me started in the digital world and i took to like a duck to water as they say.

if your laptop has only usb 3.0 ports and no usb 2.0 ports, then a solution is to buy a usb 2.0 hub and plug that into the usb 3.0 ports.

yeah i’ve read many horror stories about usb 2.0 soundcards and controllers causing BSD when connected via usb 3.0 ports….only solution is to get an usb 2.0 hub and plug that into the usb 3.0 ports if your laptop doesn’t have usb 2.0 port……i’ve read also that most soundcard and controller companies state that it is not their problem and it should be the drivers of the usb 3.0 that should be corrected with an update.

Well i don’t know where you guys buy your music from, i buy most of mine from TID, and every time i’ve had a bad sounding track or if the track has a jump or skip in it TID have always credited my account to buy another track of my choice…..but i suppose different sites have different policies.

My dj software is traktor pro2 and this is why.
I used the very first version ever of traktor
    this>>>>

I’ve used every version of traktor since then and just love it…..i have tried PCDJ red and VDJ but hated them and always went back to traktor. So i suppose it’s just a case of i’m very comfortable using traktor which i think is the best dj software out there, plus i think i’m just set in my ways seeing as i’ve been using it for 10 years or so.

Using the sync button in traktor will sync to the master deck which in your case has a track playing at 170bpm so a track at 85bpm will now be played at 170bpm…..that’s just traktor for you……as Rob Francis suggested use the /2 x2 option at bottom of decks…..if you have cue points visible you need to change it by clicking the grid button on left under the decks….once you hit the grid button on the right there are buttons marked /2 and x2….these buttons will half or double the bpm of the track playing in that deck……this is useful if traktors bpm detection is off. if traktor detects a track as 70bpm and you know it’s actually 140bpm you click the x2 button to change, tell traktor the track is 140bpm.

Hi BoomBox, my mapping is the one i got off the reloop site for 2 decks and 2 sample decks, i just modded the mapping so the effects knobs control the sample volume, the only thing is a problem with the modifiers in traktor don’t allow for a button to be set as toggle ( which means you have to press and hold a button like a shift button to use effects knobs+sample volume) i wish i could modify a button so when it is pressed it changes effects knobs to sample volume until button is depressed, but as i said traktors modifiers don’t allow the button to be set as toggle….so rather than using a button like a shift button my effects knobs control both effects amount and sample volume at same time…..which means you either use effects but do not play samples or play samples but not use effects.
next time i’m on my laptop i’ll get the mapping for you.

I’m a proud terminal mix 4 owner and use it with traktor pro 2 with the 2deck+2sample deck mapping and i love it, i’m not a scratch dj so don’t need the tight jogwheel integration of the S2 and S4, but everything else on the TM4 is awesome, i highly recommend it. I have absolutely no gripes with it……when i first got it i had to update the firmware for the mapping to work, but the firmware update went very smooth.
I did a minor mapping adjustment to use the effects knobs as volume controls for the sample decks, i don’t use traktor pro 2.5 as i have no use for remix decks so i’m still using 2.1.3 with the 4 samples per deck.

I have to agree with Terry on this…….people in UK and EU should not buy PA systems from USA as you will find it hard to get power adapters and also chance of damaging your equipment.

I see that you don’t own traktor pro 2, it’s a pity as i highly recommend the reloop terminal mix 4, i upgraded from a mixtrack and audio 2 dj to the reloop TM4 and it was an upgrade that was well worth it. I’ve bought every version of traktor so when a new version comes out i get a discount on the new version so when i go to upgrade a controller i don’t need the new controller to come bundled with a full version of traktor.
