Then a couple weeks a go it “close unexpectedly” while I was putting together a remix set…after I reopened it, the remix set I was workign on was completely gone.

I have a MBP too and im scared for my next gig! I do actually have an s2, KA6, maschine mikro and f1 hooked up via a usb hub. Assuming that may be the problem but I hope not as I like to use them all at the same time. This really only started happening after I installed 2.5. Maybe I’ll try dl 2.6.1

Do you ever have problems having to constantly relocate your music files? Its like every time i turn around there is a song that i cant load because i need to relocate it.

No but i doubt that thats the issue. doesn’t seem like a small error that reinstalling would fix. Ive heard alot of other people that are having the same problems 🙁

Im not a fanboy. Yes PC can be better but it will cost a lot to get a decked out PC. also screens and everything do count. It helps alot. Also having a macbook makes you look alot more professional at gigs AND they are so much easier to use. Also if you are going to drop over a grand for a computer why would you not use it for normal activitys? makes no sense.

Well let me start saying that i first bought a medium priced PC for my DJing and i thought it was fine. But then it started to become infested with viruses so i got a Macbook Pro. I now COMPLETELY regret EVER getting a PC! Macbook runs alot faster, has more compatibility, looks better, Has better screen, More RAM, Better CPU, The service is outstanding, AND it is built like a tank! I cant tell you how many times i have dropped it. It is all bent out of shape and is over 5 years old yet still runs just like new. YOU MUST GO FOR MAC. PC works but Mac dominates

Yea i definitely know what you are talking about. I used to LOVE having music on whenever i could during the day or while i was in the car but now that it has turned into my major hobby or “Job” i don’t enjoy it as much. Im ALWAYS trying to find new music so i never have time to really enjoy specific tracks. Also when i do fine one that i RLY like i wear out of it so quickly cause im constantly playing it all day. But i think it is all worth it. Heck its probably better for my ears to not listen to music as much anymore anyway!

Actually i think you might not be able to since your mixer will be running separate from the software. Therefore the recorder on the software wont be receiving anything after it is sent to your mixer. Make sense? i might be wrong though so don’t hold me to it 😛 But also you could always just connect the outputs of your mixer to a computer and run a program that will record everything coming out of your mixer such as audacity. Good luck!

Yep that should be fine. The only problems are that since it is very cheap gear you must realize you might have some problems. Like the slip mat that comes with those turntables is crap so make sure you replace it. Also the mixer is OK but it is probably the lowest quality one you can get. If i were you i would invest in a slightly better mixer such as the Numark M6 USB mixer. I know you dont want more that 2 decks but i have the same mixer and trust me you will enjoy the extra 2 channels. If you ever want to record a mix you can record of the USB. Also you can plug in your computer, ipod, Traktor Kontrol S2, or anything else into the mixer. Plus it have many more features and MUCH better quality. Overall it should work fine just don’t expect much more from it than what you see. Hope i helped!

Hey i dont know if im too late or not and you might already have the problem settled but even the low end soundcards sound fine as long as you stick with the name brand or most popular controllers. If you start to go into unknown brands then it might start to be a problem. But if you stick with native instruments, pioneer, numark, etc. you will be fine.
also keep in mind before you settle on a controller or software make sure you know what you are getting into. Serato is more traditional DJing and is much more simple. I thought i would really like serato until i started to dig deeper. Traktor is more complicated but very powerful. Serato tends to attract mobile DJs and people that play hip hop, pop, etc. while traktor attracts people that play dance, house, dubstep, EDM, etc. and want more in there mixes. Hope i helped!

Thats cool! What made you go for the DDJ-SX instead of a Traktor Kontrol S4? The DDJ-SX has a lil better quality and maybe a few more features but i personally like the look, feel, and layout of the S4 more :

I am a Mobile/Bedroom DJ so I don’t do clubs. But my first gig was a NYE party for my uncle who has this huge barn that he turned into a dance hall! There where about 150 people mainly teenagers. Great first gig huh? I got paid $75 an hour for 3 hours plus I had a tip jar out which i got $27 from. I had to only play Pop, some Rap, and Country (Which is one of my least favorite genres 🙁 ). Stuff like Gangnam style, Cat Daddy, Teach me how to dougie, Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, The Wobble, And alot of other filler songs like Adele, One Direction, Taylor Swift, ect. I don’t really prefer these genres and songs but it was a blast anyway.
