Yes I am already DJing. I currently have a traktor Kontrol s2 and a pair of ndx 400s with a numark m6 mixer. I am wanting to use a dvs system with my CD players and eventually get some turntables.

I’ve played a few small local venues and youth clubs and I have played at Ministry of Sound London as I was in the finals of a DJ competition. I was just wondering really who I should be contacting to get gigs?

Also I’m off to Ibiza this summer and was debating whether it would be a good idea to go over there for maybe a weekend to try and arrange some gigs over there? What do you think?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Here’s a link to my mixcloud and soundcloud where you can check out a few of my mixes and production.

I am having the same problem as you except the only difference is that Ive only had one gig. Looks like your better off than me! But just try to get as many gigs as possible. Try and do them for free but make sure that you don’t get taken advantage off. Only do the first gig for free. If you get re hired ask for payment. One trick that you might want to try is to get gigs at unlikely places. Like for example i am going to a few Gamestops, HotTopics, And Malls asking if i can play for free at there next big sale or event. Now for clubs just make a mix tape and try and be friendly with the promoters. Meet them in person and offer your mix tape at the END of your conversation. That way its more casual. Just try your best and try to play at every possible place at every possible time until you get somewhere. Also try offering for you to play the first hour at a club. Then the regular DJ will take over. The clubs will have nothing to lose. Hope I helped!

I want to map everything myself so that is not an issue and guess im going for a four decker since I want something that will last and I am not looking to upgrade again in the nearest future.

Well if you get the Traktor Kontrol S4 you can then also purchase other accessories such as a F1, Midi Fighter, etc. The only other option to have a setup that you “Build Yourself” would be CDJs and a mixer. That would be a KILLER setup but it would cost ALOT especially if you go with 4 decks. It also would not be very portable unless you bought a very large and heavy flight case for it all.

You could try recalibrating the buttons which you can do somewhere in Traktor settings I think. I haven’t come across this issue with mine, so may be a faulty machine or a loose connection. Opening up the machine will void all warranty so I wouldnt advise that

Alright I will try that. If not i guess i will use the warranty. Thanks!

Personally I am a Traktor guy so I would suggest the Traktor Kontrol S4. I have the S2 and love it! The DDJ – SX is also a great option. I wish i was lucky enough to have one but I just don’t know if i could make the switch to Serato. Just go to a local music store like guitar center and try both out!

plus they’re cheaper than the 900s so you can save up quicker and buy them sooner.

Yea thats probably what i will do but the main problem is no 100% pitch range for USBs!!!!!! Like seriously!!! Its so stupid. Like yea i could live without it but i find myself needing to go into the 100% range alot. Oh well i have also been considering a pair of used CDJ 900s from ebay. Looks like i could pick some up for about $875 – $900 each…..

What I am starting to think is that you just want PIONEER gear to tell everyone you are using “real” CDJs. I’ve got two SC2900 and apart from its nice value for money and its features (which I think should matter, if not go get yourself two CDJ350s), the things are built like tanks and no self respecting DJ needs to be looked at curiously for having them in his setup.

Perhaps you should read some of reviews on the blog about Denon gear before you start calling it a knockoff brand.

Well i didnt really mean it like that. I dont think that denon is a complete knock off brand like i said. Sure Denon is definitely more for the money and probably better players over all but i just would not be satisfied with them. I also dont care about owning “Real” CDJs to brag to everyone about. I guess you could say i am just a Pioneer fan boy. I just enjoy using using them and have always dreamed of having that sexy setup. Its almost like you have a choice between a Lamborghini or McClaren. They are both great supercars and the McClaren by far has better stats yet some people would still go for the lambo not because they are cheaper but because they are more popular you could say.

I have thought about that before its just that i would not enjoy using them. They just seem like such a knockoff brand. Im not wanting CDJs for there features or anything just mainly the feel and enjoyment of using them.

I know that they are limited but i have always dreamed of owning them and i just simply enjoy using them. Also i would LOVE CDJ 2000s but it would take over a year for me to afford 1 CDJ much less a second one and a mixer 🙁

Practice off everyone else’s because most clubs usually already have CDJs that you’re able to use.

Mainly i am just wanting to own them since i am mainly a bedroom DJ. I wouldn’t purchase them just to practise for clubs since i am only 14 but i just simply enjoy using them.

All the CDJ really gives you is the bpm and a small waveform while traktor gives you a small and very large waveform, bpm, key, and a little indication bar that tells you if the beats are in sync or not. So traktor pretty much ruins it for yo while a cdj simply gives you the minimal information you need.

Yea i know exactly what you mean. First of all though im not really jumping to the gun because i forgot to mention that i started with a pair of cheap Numark NDX 400 CD Players. Like they are ok players and all but tbh the features that that have barley work. So i do come from a background of starting with the cheapest and working up. The S2 is my second step forward and i liked it alot since i could actually use everything to my advantage but its just to easy. Also i have tried to cover things but ya know it just doesn’t feel the same. Thanks for the response though!
